2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I bet you haven't even read it. It's actually quite good and reasonable article. Google Translate isn't perfect but fairly understandable.
I agree.

One can tell that the author was trying to be fair and balanced, while conveying genuine feelings, even if one doesn't agree on all points.

I also think that his musings about how it should be possible to be a true fans and see both strengths and flaws in Zhenya's skating (and now Alina's) raise important questions.

Buyanovastan. Neighbors Eteristan and constantly at war with it.

More seriously, I don't know of any countries Radionova has ties to. She could probably have her pick of the ones with a weak ladies field. Still, I agree with previous posters that a switch is unlikely, whether because of patriotic or political reasons.

She could always represent China. China needs figure skaters in the ladies field. Ever since Zi Jun retired its been looking bleak in China. Maybe if she went far back into her lineage she may find a great, great, great x 100 distance grandparent who was Chinese. She would probably get citizenship in an instance and receive unlimited funding.

That second one has a chance :yahoo:

Definitely! You can see on the 1st attempt she almost pulls up too much and throws herself off axis but the second one is actually looks pretty good (much better than I would have expected). Yes she falls and yes it's ur but give her 3-4 more months and then maybe....

Yes the second attempt looks like it has potential with more practice.
Im guessing she hasnt done one clean yet or it would have shown up on the AoP instagram.
But I see it as a good sign that she attempts it. That should indikate she is completely recovered from her troubles this summer and her tripples are stable again

I‘m bringing this over from Tarakanova‘s fanfest:

And the quad race goes on:

No attempt was landed but it looked pretty close!
The second one with the frames shown is slightly better than << so it'd barely be in the < range. However, it's extremely likely that it was << anyway and it simply was hidden by the frame rate(the last aerial frame is close to ice level). The air time is good but the rotation speed is simply hopeless. If she cannot increase it there's no way she lands one.

Apparently Trusova has a fever. Hopefully she'll be recovered enough to make Yerevan and not have to miss the final, but I believe in her. She's fierce enough that she'd probably try to pull a Medvedeva and go anyway (and she's probably strong enough to still win)

Well, I would say she wouldn't have any advantage against someone like this prodigy

Can I just say, as somebody who is also heavily involved in ballet and dance, as much as I currently love Kamila I am not putting ANY money on her lasting more than a couple of years. She has The Leg™ and I know exactly what that leads to. Looks very good on a prepubescent 12 year old but it inevitably means they have wide set hips and will naturally become very bottom heavy seemingly overnight as soon as puberty hits. It's very common in dance, less so in figure skating, but Polina Edmunds is a good example of it.

Can you explain this a little further? Like, what is "The Leg" and what does it lead to? And are there any current, grown women skaters with this (other than Polina - someone with more successful jumps, etc.)?

I've been involved in ballet for almost 20 years and I also have no idea what "The Leg" means in this context.

Actually, you can't make such predictions by such a minor sample size considering the numerous factors there are contributing to a person's development, including both their surroundings as well as their genetics.

Tarusina also apparently tried a 4T but no video of that so far.

Nothing against Tarusina but her jumps barely get any height at all so I really don‘t see how she could get a 4T. I would be happy for her if she landed one, of course but if I’m honest I’m just a bit sceptical. Wishing her all the best even though I‘d rather have her work on getting a bit more height on her other jumps - especially that 2A. It looks very Yulia-esque to me...

Sasha is so fierce, there‘s no way she‘ll miss the JGPF. She‘ll fight her way through. Poor girls. Alena with her hurt finger, now Sasha, too... So young yet so tough. Wow.

In my opinion Kanysheva should have been assigned for Ljubljana: she has the highest PB among the silver medalists and with this field she could have competed for the gold as she deserves.
