As much as I love Shoma, I kind of have to agree with Dave and Jonathan on the program being a bit too minimalistic. Although I do think that he looks more comfortable performing this program, the first half is still rather empty. The program comes alive in the second half and I just hope that his team will try to make the first half more interesting. Moonlight Sonata has great potential but it definitely needs some work.

The season is early so hopefully they will add some more to the program. Hopeful Shoma can get Quad Sal and Flip stable soon. I used to blame his coaches for not correcting technical issues with jumps just like Doug Howe does but not after Shoma interview. He made it clear that he practice the jumps and program on his own and even the work in Chicago is not technique but stamina. Glad for interview because it gave me a better undestanding of how he trains.

I find this statement misleading. How does he work on stamina? Jumping 40 quads (which he did one day) can be quite a test of one's stamina. Running each program twice and then jumping quads and 3A's when you're exhausted is another test of stamina. The stamina work is being done through jumps, program run throughs combined with jump training. Totally incorrect that he isn't working on technique.

Yup, I also agree. Loving Shoma do not mean we will be blind to his weakness. The first half is a bit empty and I have hoping they add something or anything there but looking at his track record, unlikely he will change his cheoreo anymore. Any choreo at Japan Open tends to be it, only jump sequence has history of changes. It's will depends on his own aura and charisma to fill in the first half. I believe that clean skate will definitely bring out those.

Beside that, Shoma program usually grows over the season as he digest the program better. For now, I already feeling the emotion for the program, just waiting for those special moments evoke like at 2015, 2016 GPF and 2017, 2018 world. Since Jr, his short program always making me stop everything and enjoying his skating.

OMG!!! I am rambling with Shoma aewsomeness:luv17: now when i just want to give comment and opinion about this Free Program. :palmf:

I think another reason why the program seems so empty is because the more subdued music makes the choreography (or lack of choreography in his case :slink:) the main focal point. I'm confident that the best is yet to come for both Shoma and this program because his programs never stagnate throughout a season. For now, I'll just gush over his hypnotizing short program .

Me too!!! with new custome, i am losing my cool already. He is damn sexy and he know it.!! He flaunt it like no other.
And did I hear that right in the one feimeicheng video clip? It sounds like the female announcer is saying "kakkoii"!

I see yawning_shoma calls it wine colored. Good description. Very classy looking.

There is a Homeric expression 'epi oinopa ponton', meaning 'upon the wine-colored sea' -- it's used in Joyce's Ulysses as well ('a winedark sea').
Oh, I am getting too romantic with Shoma... What a wonderful color.

Omg I like the new costume, it looks so good on him. Shoma, keep it please
And StH is looking even better than before, he’s sooo fast...this SP is a masterpiece, I can’t wait to see it in competition again, just jaw-dropping :clapper: the commentators seemed really impressed too

Is there any video with the whole show?

i just wanna say that the gala performance just put the biggest smile on my face this morning. The SP is just out of this world, watching him is always so exciting and it seems he is really coming to his own, so good to see. Cannot wait for his upcoming performances.

^^^Totally agree. Quite a difference from Shombardia where his skates were tied too tightly. I love how the intensity builds!
