What are you listening to right now?

Whilst watching the Short Dance from the JGP Ljubljana Cup (I'm watching the Free Dance at the moment), I came across the Hungarian-Ukrainian partnership of Villö MARTON and Danyil SEMKO (SD; FD). And as soon as I saw her name, I thought of this song that I absolutely love:

Ville Valo and Natalia Avelon - "Summer Wine"

(Phew! That was close. I very nearly linked to the NSFW version of the video! )

Although, being a figure skating fan, I probably should have thought of this:

Edvin Marton - "Tosca Fantasy"

I wonder if Villö is related to Edvin. And if so, I wonder whether his friendship with The Great Man is the reason she got into skating...

She's Come Undone - The Guess Who

Kind of a sad song with a cynical edge but Iove the jazz fusion feel, vcoals and especially the flute solo at 2:15..... and the way the last few lyrics are sung...

Undun! My all time fav Guess Who tune, very unlike some of their others. In a younger time, I thought Burton Cummings was cute;)

In honour of Caroll Spinney, who has announced his retirement at the age of 84:

Caroll Spinney (as Oscar The Grouch) - "The Grouch Anthem"

Waylon Jennings and Carroll Spinney (as Big Bird) - "Ain't No Road Too Long"

And here is the tribute that was posted on the Sesame Street YouTube Channel:

Sesame Street: A Tribute to Caroll Spinney

Sesame Street won't be the same without him. But, after nearly 50 years on the show, I think he has earned a rest. His back must be broke from wearing the Big Bird costume for so long!

I wish him a happy retirement.

The 2018 series of "Autumnwatch" was on this week, and for the first time it was based somewhere outside the UK. This year, it was based in New England (the base was in New Hampshire, but there were reports from neighbouring states).

Consequently, all week the following song has been stuck in my head:

Kirsty MacColl - "A New England"

The irony is, the song wasn't even used in the programme!

Good to see Belfast legend Van Morrison getting a bit of appreciation here! :cheer:   :party2: :points:

On a different notw, I just heard a very, well, different cover of a Beatles song.

Here is the version that was played:

Baba Yaga - "Back In The USSR"

And here is an extended version that I just found on YouTube, which is a bit more conventional:

Baba Yaga - "Back In The USSR"

Enrique Iglesias' "Escape" is playing at work, where I'm spending time on GoldenSkate instead of getting anything done.
