2018 Internationaux de France Ladies Free Skate

Maybe I'm not good at determining jump quality?

(I thought they looked airy...)

The position of her body in the air works against her. She often bends her leg at the knee and has a noticeable leg wrap. Both her upper and lower limbs have a tendency to be pretty loose. To really be aerodynamic, the arms have to be tight to the body and the legs have to be straight and crossed at the ankle. Her form makes it hard to rotate fast and having to fight for those jumps compromises her form on landing as well. She's prone to low or scratchy landings and breaking at the waist (so her upper body is pitching forward) because her weight isn't properly centered.

She has the strength to salvage landings other people would probably fall on which is impressive in itself but the jump technique is a real problem.

Ted Barton would now say that Lea has many lovely qualities! She is light on her feet and has nice knees. Love how supportive the crowd was.

I didn't see the short skate, but given that everyone's placements are about where I expect, am I correct in saying there were no major disasters?
