Evgenia Medvedeva

did Zhenya, Brian or Tracy make any statements after the free program?

Brian did. He said that he wasn't sure what went wrong since she had perfect practice skatings. However, they have long and not easy time ahead.

Zhenya also made some comments, but I only saw parts of those which say that it is all mental issues, not technical issues, and that she expected it to be hard, but the reality kicks way harder.

any chance Zhenya will perform at gala tommorow? i love her ex program

I'm sure she will. She took 4th place, and they always invite 4th place to participate at Grand-Prix Gala. Sometimes they even go up to 5-6 places. So I'm quite positive we will see her performing tomorrow

For the record, Russian Nationals are December 19 thru 23rd!

it's our next opportunity to see Zhenya skate (barring some other skating event)! And a long time for her to train and get ready.

So mark your calendars, peeps, December 19 thru 23rd!

Are there any B events that she can participate in? Might be good to just skate with nothing at stake. Just to feel comfortable again.

Also, I hope it was cathartic for her, to speak out about the kind and extent of hate she’s been having to endure since she moved to Canada to train.

List of skaters invited to gala was published and Evgenia is there ;)

Not always at NHK the 4th placed Dance team didn’t perform. But I think Evgenia will considering her popularity.

Yes. As per the new rules, each position in a spin needs to be held for at least 3 revolutions, and she's was short on revolutions :)

My heart hurts that Zhenya is in the place and mindset that she is currently in. I know she is better than this. I think something that could possibly help her, would be to talk to someone like Alina. Today, and yesterday I felt that Zhenya was afraid of something, maybe her mistakes were haunting her, I obviously don't know what is going on inside her head. She needs to skate freely and forget any previous bad skates or mistakes. The reason I say Alina is because she was twice behind after the SP and ended up winning during the GP last season, because she managed to put the previous skate behind her. Alina also knows what it's like to be considered "done" because of one bad placement (Worlds 20218). It is one thing to talk to adults and that may be what Zhenya needs, but sometimes talking to someone who is experiencing something like you is a great feeling because you don't feel so alone, and you understand that others may feel this way too. I don't believe she (Zhenya) is done, now that she is managing her technique, she needs to figure out how to work with her head (if that makes sense). I think a conversation about moving on and putting the past in the past could help a lot. I hope that she takes some time and thinks about this. Not everyone is perfect and no ever will be no matter how hard they try. She should remember that everyone has had rough competitions, all of her Russian lady competitors included.

I don't know what all this talk about figure skaters being done because Liza has proven that's not the case. But I see this in the Russian ladies figure skating threed people writing about someone being done. Its rubbish. The deal with medvedeva to me is mental she lost some of her mental toughness and I'm not sure why unless it's just because she's unsure of hrrself because of her new situation new programs new coaches new jumps and new life. But she had such mental toughness last year overcoming the foot fracture to almost win Olympic gold and skate magnificently at the Olympics to win the silver medal. Cuz that was epic mental toughness from Zhenya. Now her mental toughness is very fragile and she has to be supported and cared for and work so hard like she always does to find her form again. It can happen.

I really doubt that these situations have similar reasons. Alina was struggling with her SP most of the season, while her FS was a warhorse in terms of technical base, and she was also skating it for two seasons, so she had a perfect muscle memory for it. So it was a case when even if something goes wrong with the Swan Lake, she can compensate the points in Don Quixote, and that is what happened during GP last year. If Zhenya really needs someone to seek advice, I would look for someone who was at the top and had it all... and then became second, or lost. Brian could be one of those guys (though he never won Olympics, but he is a legend). Aljona might be another one. Or Irina Slutskaya! Being on top and then finishing 9th at the Worlds before becoming World Champion again!

I wish Irina would talk to her or Maria Butryskaya. She needs that support and pep talk.

Philip Hersch said that she could go to Golden Spins event.

Maria always gives interviews after Zhenya's competitions. She already has one after today's unlucky one. It would be nice if she could talk to Zhenya.
