Alina Zagitova

:gaah:
This is why she looked like her eyes were about to close halfway through the program. :dev2:
Someone needs to answer for this.

This makes me so angry. It is one matter if Alina can learn to lose gracefully. Besides, I still believe that she will win GPF :). It is another matter if anti-fans are swarming online like a flock of buzzards. Alina is done when she says she is done.

I hope her coaches are able to control what she hears. In any case, Eteri has her work cut out  with four girls to coach at the GPF. I wonder how she splits her time between them.

Sergey helps. Danil too.

In brief

1. Alina is the coolest! She skated clean and it was a good performance she can be proud of. It was not her best and she knows it, and accepts it. It looks she has the right mind set for the free. It will be great and spectacular!
2. Alina's fans are also the coolest! Thanks, flanker! ;)
3. Alina seems to be the tallest of the 3 (Alina, Rika, Liza), at least on pictures. When did this happen? O_O

Have some rest Alina!
William GIbson's theory of jet lag: "her mortal soul is leagues behind her, being reeled in on some ghostly umbilical down the vanished wake of the plane that brought her here, hundreds of thousands of feet above the Atlantic. Souls can't move that quickly, and are left behind, and must be awaited, upon arrival, like lost luggage."

I hope your jet lag will pass soon (you will reunite with your soul!) and your Carmengitova will be passionate and breathtaking!

Rika was better than Alina today, simple enough . I bet it was a pleasure for Rika to beat Alina once.
Im sure Alina inspires her.But we all know the kind of skater that Alina is, and how much she already
achieved with only 16 years, she got a olympic's gold THIS year so she still being the skater of the year, the skater of the moment...
People talk sht*** all the time.

And let the guys who is sad, devastated talk about their feelings.. Well, one thing
we all have in commom, we are always wishing the best to our skater and we feel happy when she is in 1th.
I mean, Im sure they are sad today but tomorrow they will be here supporting our fighter.. Every fan has a differect reaction.

To finish, I believe that she has great chances to win, it all depends on how Rika will skate, once she has
a great advantage of almost 5 points.

But for me, is enough to see our amazing Carmen performing with all her beauty and joy, making a performance with complex elements looks easy and showing the audiance what skate is about and showing people what is a Olympic's champion on the ice.

Rika is great. But c'mon.. Alina is a total package! When Rika makes a perfect triple axel in front of the olympic's judges I may respect her as I respect Alina..

I don't know if someone here is excited for today but I am really excited about Alena and Sasha! They were just amazing in their short program.

I think Alina can still win this. Kihara fs pb is 154 while Alina pb is 158. Alina is about 5 pts behind her at the moment. I'm sure Alina is going to skate cleanly for the fs just like the previous times she was behind from the sp. Kihara 3a arent really consistent and they can be underrotated sometimes and we dont know how she will deal with the pressure of a major competition like this.

Mate, Alina is in 2nd not because she was tired and did bad. She's behind because the Japan lady threw a well executed 3A and managed to pull through the rest of the program. There isn't much Alina could do than just skate clean and she did it. Upping the TES doesn't happen overnight, sometimes it doesn't happen at all after they are post puberty. I don't understand what people expected her to do :scratch2: And may I just add that the press conferance was one of the worst I have ever seen. Journalists kept trying to make her say that you know..she skated badly because she was intimidated by Rika's scores. I'm glad she didn't answer some of those questions :palmf: I watched the conference before knowing the results because it popped on my facebook and I thought at first that she had bombed her SP from all the fuss about her coming 2nd after the SP :noshake:

She is "2nd" because Rika got three times higher goe than she deserved according to rules and at least +6 pcs out of nowhere. There are no other reasons, mate

She is second because Rika was better that day. Do you see Alina running around claiming she was underscored? No. She acts graciously in defeat yet it‘s very clear that she wants to fight tomorrow. That‘s the right attitude. And if Alina manages to be as classy, so should her fans. She still has a great chance tomorrow and I know she‘ll use it.

We can be objective and respectful, even as fans. There is no need to downplay Rika‘s achievement. We should give credit where credit is due.

Right, no competition is lost or won before the final skater has performed their program and has got their score. Alina, when she‘s on, is a great Carmen. She is fierce, sassy and she performs with a lot of determination yet heart. She also thrives under pressure of having a serious rival which is good. Rika beating her here in the SP will push her to even greater heights and I think that‘s a great thing. Alina will give it her everything and stay clean, I‘m sure of that. Whether or not she will win with that, isn‘t in her hands to decide. But no matter what placement she gets in the end, as long as she fought in the best way she could. Does she always have to win? No. Does it make her less of a skater in any way? NO. She‘ll be more motivated than before now and who could say this is a bad thing?

Hopefully, she got some good sleep. :bed:

Dogitova would make a nice bed all by himself.

Time zones are honestly confusing me so much. I somehow never seem to get used to that, despite the many competitions in Japan/Canada/USA/etc. But I know when the ladies FS will start tomorrow, so at least I won‘t miss that.

I hope we‘ll get to see some practice videos of a well-rested Alina who‘s ready to slay. :agree:

The smile that spread over her face when she saw the two girls carry Dogitova was adorable. I hope her fans keep giving her such big plushies. It‘s become kind of “her thing“ already, like Yuzu‘s Poohs!

You're cool, you write such long texts in all the threads not in your native language and you always have something to say
I can't so , I guess I'm old, I forget words sometimes, first I have to think what I want to say, then write, then I'm afraid that I wrote incorrectly and no one will understand and laugh, run to use online translator and check and only then press Post reply

Well, I confess I'm often using dictionary. Not because I would not know the word (well, most of the time), but I sometimes have the problem to write it correctly (is there double "S" or simple etc.)

But I understand you well, if that means something for you ;)

Thank you. “You always have something to say“ can be interpreted in a good or bad way and I‘m glad here it‘s meant in a good way. I often feel like I talk/write too much.

And it‘s not about you being old, it‘s more that I love the English language very much and keep reading/writing in it. You should see me try form a sentence in Spanish, though. I‘ve been learning it for several years now and somehow I still feel like the only thing I can say is: Hola, que tal? If I had to speak Spanish here... now that would make me shut up very quickly.

And I like your posts. They‘re short but get the point across. And that‘s all that matters. Aaand you know more Russian than I do. Which is also an advantage as a figure skating fan.

EdRoz, it is not the number of words but the thought that counts!

You make nice posts about Alina and help out with translations and give us funny TAT gifs. I'm glad you're part of this fanfest. :ghug:
