Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Their main twizzle sequence looked flawless. Gabby probably slipped on the edge a bit after the lift? The shift in weight from sitting on Guillaume's knees to standing up can trip any skater up. (Again it reminds us of how tricky some of their transitions are, even they don't look showy.)

Loved Gabby's eye make-up. And I think she's bringing more emotion to this than at IdF. All of their head and shoulder positions are so refined and tasteful.

ETA: Just saw they are panting quite hard afterwards. Is this location higher in altitude?

The camera guy was either drunk or had never filmed figure skating before. Most of the pattern is either zoomed out or filmed from waist up, even if I was proficient at those keypoints I wouldn't be able to say whether they danced well or not  Level 2 and 3 of Tango Romantica.

I think I prefer the ponytail! And I can't believe that I'm writing this, but I miss the shirt! :eeking:

They've come up a level on the first Tango Romantica pattern, only two weeks after their first competition - two Ys and a T - good to see! I can't remember which one it was, but there was a podcast where they talked about how they set themselves a challenge with that section because the music they skate it to doesn't have very marked beats on the key points, so it's harder for them to hit the timing and harder for the judges to spot it when they do, but clearly they've been drilling it since IdeF and it's working.

Everything looked great, and even Gabi's missed twizzle on the lift exit was barely noticeable if you weren't looking for it - it wasn't a program-spoiling error like a fall would be. But they did look a little tired. Two trans-Atlantic flights in two weeks might do that to you, I guess. And yes, the location this year does seem to be at altitude, so that may be affecting them a bit.

They went one level down on the second pattern though... :scratch2: So it's still 5 keypoints out of 8. But you're right about the music, they took a huge risk.

The rink seems very small and they had to slow down the speed to skate the program. From what can be understood in the conversation she has with Romain, in the kiss and cry, I understand she was in the rink sides and unable to do some steps properly. So 85 is probably generous in these circumstances but comparisons difficult to make as well.

Not to mention the jet lag. Vanessa and Morgan have both been bemoaning about their jet lag on their Instagram stories today.

So is Mae Meite! At least she's finished skating, though, all except the gala. Everyone else has to get through the end of the competition yet...

Took me half the program to notice Guillaume had a new shirt, go me 😀 Worried about him a bit, actually, both yesterday and today in kiss & cry he kept rubbing his leg. He seemed really tired too, more so than Gabi. It’s all gorgeous though.
