I like the fact that you actually fit in a reference to *RICK JAMES BEEP* in your post. Also never would have expected that to be located in a post on the Jason Brown fan fest, but hey we live in new times.

In all seriousness, though, that’s a bit of the vibe I’m getting from his skating lately. As you said, his posture is definitely improved — it’s a “little” thing, but combined with the haircut and his SP packaging, it goes a long way. I’ve definitely had to take a fresh look at Jason and just how strong he is. There’s a refinement that was missing in earlier seasons.

As far as the quad goes... I’m pretty meh. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, I don’t actually care. The number of guys who have high-quality quads and who land them consistently can be counted on one hand. As for the fleshing out of programme content: that’s the TCC way. Start at ACI with new programmes and enhance the transitional content over the course of the season. It’s a good approach and seems to be working well for Jason.

And, oops, happy (belated) birthday to Jason. May you have a hundred years (and a hundred more great skates). [emoji4]

Did anyone listen to the Ice Talk discussing the the GPF? At the very end, Jackie Wong briefly mentioned Jason’s win at Golden Spin. He said that Jason had some kind of injury but implied it was minor. :shocked: That’s the first I’ve heard and I hope he’s right. But it might explain why he took some stuff out of FS.

^ I did hear that! I’m guessing that Jackie heard that from Brian at GPF since he interviewed him. I agree it was minor since he still did pretty well.

He said that Jason had some kind of injury but implied it was minor. :shocked: That’s the first I’ve heard and I hope he’s right. But it might explain why he took some stuff out of FS.

Nooooo! Admittedly, that possibility was on my mind a bit at the time when the changes were noted. I wonder if the injury occurred in Zagreb in practice since this was a competition he could have easily skipped if something was going on beforehand. PLEASE let it be very very minor.

@Rosa74 I’m with you - really hoping it is just one of those minor things that all athletes deal with. Ugh, no more problems! He’s been doing so well. This is the first time in I can’t remember how long that he didn’t tank his second GP. It would be really nice if he could build on it.

We’ve seen Jason compete seriously injured (see nhk 2016, ice challenge 2015 ) and he performed quite well still comparably at Golden Spin. He popped two jumps and missed somethings, but he landed all his 3As and did most of his 3-3s. That’s actually better then he did even 4CC or Nationals in 2017 when he was recovering from the stress fracture. I think this is a good sign that his TCC approach is working well because I think before he would have tried to do everything and this time they scaled back.

It sounds like the Brian interview will be on Ice Talk in the future.

I get so dizzy looking at those spins, what must it be like for Jordan to film it!

One thing that has confused me in looking at Jason spins as filmed by Jordan is whether they’re stationary (ie his normal spins that we see in competition) or whether he’s deliberately making them travel. The one he just posted is probably his normal spin, and probably so is this one, but I find it harder to tell:

Posting to update my own post. I just listened to Ice Talk and they said Jason arrived at Golden Spin with a minor injury. So it obviously wasn't serious enough to withdraw from the comp. Hopefully nothing there made it worse.

Just listened to Jackie's new interview with Orser. Brian says Jason injured his ankle the day before the short program in Zagreb. And I think he said that therefore, the quad had to be taken out of the long. So it sounds like he was planning to put in the quad there....?
