This is why I wish the rumors that Liza would be chosen for Europeans hadn’t started so immediately after her withdrawal. What does Alina have to gain from competing here if by withdrawing she would be guaranteed a Europeans spot whereas she could (unlikely but still) splat if she does compete? What then?
Although considering that Alina chose to continue even after winning OGM (including going to Worlds) I doubt she would withdraw here without good reason.
 
Personally, I think that as long Alina doesn't melt down, assuming she is competing, she will get a Euro/Worlds spot. She has the best results of the Russian ladies so far this season, even if she isn't the most consistent one.

I suppose it makes 4Lz-3Lo much easier.
Same with the 3-3-3-3-3-... combos other Eteri girls do. If you can do that, there is no reason to not be able to do a simple 3-3 or 3-2-2, or 3-3-2 in a competitive program, or add a -3lo or -3T to literally anything.

I loved OCS, it looked like a good framework - a bit empty with lots of potential for additions/improvement. After Grenoble I just didn't want to see it in combinations with Zhenya ever again, her 'murder face' was shocking... (and the PCS were insulting to Marin, Rika & Mai) This new SP might be a step back on her 'artistic' devellopment but this is something she can do in her sleep and there is no danger of something like Grenoble so I'm on the hype train!!

I love him, but David Wilson did a lot of uninspired choreo this season like Zhenya's FS or the japanese ladies' SPs. OCS was my favourite from him so far RIP :(

Relieving to hear! I‘ll look forward to seeing her. This really is her title to lose (only Sasha could play spoiler) so I wanted her to go and repeat as National Champion. :)

Well, but the mental block was for the SP mostly. (Even though FS wasn‘t good at IdF either) And with the FS her killer stare works, whereas the SP requires a fun approach she probably isn‘t capable of showing at the moment. I‘m no fan of the FS but at least at SCI it was obvious that it can be an exciting program if she‘s involved. It‘s not a well-choreographed program per se and rather bland but when she’s into it, it can be impressive. The SP was more important to fix/change because she kept losing like 5-10 points constantly and at RusNats, that‘s something that can keep you out of the top 6 very quickly.
 
I read somewhere else that apparently Eteri and Alina are late because there is some cultural ritual a specific amount of days after someone dies for Eteri's mother. I think it says something if Alina stayed behind with Eteri to support her rather then going with the rest of the girls. Do you think Alina is Eteri's new favorite? I am not sure which of her girls are her favorites after Medvedeva left.

Um... a day of remembrance on the 40th day since passing is indeed part of tradition, but I sincerely doubt this is something Alina would be part of, even assuming that's the reason Eteri hasn't arrived yet. Sounds very far fetched.

I think having a bad short program was feeding into the long program.
