Alena Kostornaia

I thought you guys should see this one. Look who's the happy camper next to her aunt's horse: https://i.imgur.com/2i0m9Nm.jpg

Alyona and equestrian sport. :)

Lovely, and Alyona said in that interview she feels a very special connection with horses. Most girls, young and adolescent, that are into horses feel the same about this noble animal.
They treat their horse as their best friend, sharing their deepest secrets and emotions in privacy while grooming their horse.

Also, didn't she say she felt this wonderful connection too when swimming with dolphins while on holiday?

I think Alena was punished for saying ,during livestream ,who won the show Ice age before final

Many skaters just don't like when their streams are uploaded everywhere (youtube and instagram) later.

Punished by who?

She is magic!

Yes she is !! When it comes to figure skating, Kostornaya is made from The Right Stuff, a natural talent in artistry that is hard to come by.
She may not have the most difficult jumps, but more than makes up for it in her artistic expression.

Excellent basic skating skills, combined with innate musicality, she is able to bring a performance to life, challenge the judges and enchant the audience.

Her "Dos Candencias sobre Adios Nonino" will go down in figure skating history as one of the finest short programs performed by any figure skater of any age ever. It is one of my most favourite programs for sure.

One can hope she will be given the choice to perform to equally outstanding music for her debut in the senior ranks.

Yes she is brilliant. A more solid and steady version of Sasha Cohen. Alenas upside is through the roof.

That is just basic gymnastics stretching, a daily routine for figure skaters. If she were a rhythmic gymnast, she'd be able to hold that standing split scale without help and pivot on one raised foot while swinging hand apparatus like clubs in different directions, patterns and rhythm independently of each other. Skaters' coordination is only surpassed in rhythmic gymnasts.

Dance and gymnastics class are probably the most liked classes by the skaters, where they can chat with each other while stretching in the morning warmups, laugh at and with each other while dancing and generally enjoy themselves in comfy warm track suits while the music plays on the radio. Before being called to attention, mustered, and marched out into the ice rink for some high intensity skating lessons.

The woman holding Alena's leg is Daniil's mother, Lyudmila Shalashova. She's a former ballerina who works with Eteri's team; it's her birthday so Alena is wishing her happy birthday.

Sasha also posted a happy birthday message for her with a photo of her and the 3 A's:

Looks like Sasha and Alena are both wearing pointe shoes... I wonder if that is just for the photo, or if they actually practice ballet in them...? If they actually do ballet in them, I will be very impressed!!

Wow! To be honest I did not expect this.
Is their a skater that can dance on pointe and jump triples at the same time?

Skating boots are very rigid round the feet compared to pointee shoes. How to exercise skaters’ toes, middle foot and ankles?
Doing regular ordinary ballet drills like pliees, taps, swings, turns in pointees during a more traditional ballet lesson at the barre in front of the mirror. Even practicing the foot positions is benificiary for skaters.
It gives the whole foot, ankle and calf muscles a proper workout. Besides teaching proper posture, carriage and extension that can easily be transferred to skating elements.
So it makes perfect sense to use pointee shoes, and they don’t wear them long enough for the toes to get hurt. Ballet dancers are tough, dancing in pointees every performance is torturous.

I wish that a video of Alena doing ballet would be relseased! Actually it would be nice to see all 3 of them together doing ballet to compare, but I would also take a solo video with just Alena 😎

LOL, who doesn’t want to be a fly on the wall of Khrustalniy?

The coaches and skaters probably prefer professional solitude and relative quiet now in the build up to Euros, Jnr Nats and Worlds. No distractions, no media pressure, no fans, little social interaction either. I wouldn't be surprised if all skaters financed by MosKomSport will congregate on one rink, and share training resources in the final phase of preparations.
When all goes to plan, many medals will be brought home.
After Worlds have finished the skaters can wind down, but most of the children still have to catch up on their curriculum, have school tests and exams to prepare for and sit, before summer break and family holidays finally commence.

Let’s hope the skaters take their academics as serious as their skating, they all have good brains and work ethic.
