Barbara Fusar Poli | Golden Skate

Barbara Fusar Poli

Occasionally, television shows like "Saturday Night Live" will poke fun at a skater. The most recent example I can think of is a SNL sketch right after Torino where Natalie Portman played Sasha Cohen, coming in second in a joke-telling competition. It really wasn't very funny...not as amusing as Barbara's Stare of Doom.
At the end of this month, "Blades of Glory" comes to theaters. This movie is about two male skaters who were disqualified "for life" in singles, so decide to come back as a pair. I look forward to seeing it!
Thanks for the link!

SNL also parodied the 02 scandel, Tara Lipinski, and IIRC Nancy Kerrigan

as well as Scott Hamilton as a commentator lol

Mad TV did a skit that was rather "naughty." The male asian on the show played MK:eek: protesting what the two guys from The Man Show were "saying" as they watched the routines. Scott Hamlton was also characterized.

The Italian television claimed the copyright and deleted the video from youtube!!! :banging: :banging:

Bummer, Same thing happened with the "Lazy Sunday" original, yet it is still in the top 10 most popular viewed. There is a great spoof of that....

Post-skating option?

Apparently there are some practical uses for a good stare.

In NYC, officials of Central Park are bringing in special dogs to help deal with the park's goose problem, not by hurting them but by looking at them good and hard.

Border collies are used in such cases because they have been bred as herd animals and are able to frighten geese via “the stare,” a particular look and stance that leads geese to conclude that the dogs are predators, according to park officials.
