WHAT??? This is ridiculous! I'm speechless and utterly disappointed. This is so unfair to both Zhenya and Liza. ☹😡
 
My God, I know her post was with the best of intentions, but it really will anger a lot of people.
At least she turned off the comments in time.
 
Uh I thought it was a nice post. All she said is if she is selected she will aim to do her best. Actually I think it kinda shows that she can face her critics in the face and say, say what you want you can’t make me go away.

I also haven’t had a chance to say Congrats to Zhenya on her win! She did well!
 
With all respect for Samodurova for winning Euro, it's clear that Zagitova, Medvedeva and Tuktamysheva will make maybe the best Russian team of all time

I agree. She turned off comments in time, which is good. She doesn't have to read the hate on her own account. This was just meant as: "Should I get selected, I will do my best." Nothing more, nothing less. No drama. I do think it's really unfair, that she (as well as the other skaters) aren't informed about the decision.

I guess that's how Rusfed plays their games. Universiade is in Russia this year. If they did not plan on sending both girls (Liza and Zhenya) to Worlds, they would have let one of them skate there. Otherwise, it's completely irrational. Maybe they know something we don't and that's what this kind of drama is for. Or maybe they're just lost between politics and forgot time over fighting too much. And now they choose the easiest way that is, ironically, also the one that is plain unfair to all the skaters involved. Typical.

I agree. If it would be Alina, Evgenia and Liza. The team would represent. 1 OGM, 1 OSM , 2OSM team event, 3 world gold medals, 4 Europeans gold medals, 2 Europeans silver medals, 4 GPF gold medals, 3 JWC gold medals.
Has any team ever had that many medals?

Fluture, I think it's the second scenario where they are just lost between politics and forgot time. Oh, I wish I could be a fly on the wall at their meeting.

Well, technically I agree. But poor Sofia really has done more than enough to get this spot. She's been consistent all season long. I would feel terrible if she wasn't on the team, as much as I love Zhenya. And she's also the safe bet. The other ladies: Liza, Zhenya and Alina aren't as clear to skate cleanly. Liza depends on her 3A to get high scores because her PCS is generally low, Zhenya is, as much as she's rising right now, still adjusting to her new technique and Alina has been having some issues too lately. Sofia might not be as well-known as the others but she is solid and consistent. You can rely on her to deliver.

Yes, I think so too. I'm just trying to consider all the options but I'm not coming to a logical solution to why they've solved it like this. Which tells me there isn't a logical solution and they just didn't make up their minds in time and will now continue the politiking without letting the poor girls know... I would give a lot to be a fly on their wall and have a Russian translating fly next to me to help me understand what's going on. :laugh:
 
The only drama I get from Zhenya's instagram post, is that the skaters really don't know which one of them is going. I hope they at least are going to find out soon... other than that, the only thing she said is that she would do her best, so what? She also already gave a lot of praise to Liza and said that Liza would deserve a Worlds spot, but of course cartain people weren't happy about that either. What exactly is wrong with an athlete showing that she wants to compete at a major event?

Anyway, I really hope the fed isn't going to jerk them around for long. It's no good to anyone and could potentially backfire big time when the ones who end up going will be mentally exhausted from all of this hoping and dreading.

I like Sofia too, I just pointed out all the medals the other 3 have accumulated.
