2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Is there a big push for Evgenia to go to Worlds because it’s likely going to be a lot more difficult to make the Worlds team next year and beyond? I don’t know.

Her looks? They've got to be kidding, right?

Don't get me wrong, Zhenya is pretty as a picture. But Liza looks like she is having so much fun and wants me to have fun, too.

I think you misunderstood the post. But for the record, TSL said nothing at all about the looks of any of the women, including Liza.

because she was mess at European Championships and Russian Championships and Liza is more stable skater this season.

Liza scored under the 200 marks at dragon trophy and honestly both zhenia and liza had generous results at their domestic home competition.

I’d honestly go with Evgenia over Liza because Zhenya’s the type of skater who performs best at the biggest competitions. She’s the type who, if she’s going to fall at any competition, it’s not going to be Worlds. Her PCS will also be the highest out of any other competitor, regardless of how she performs.

That's hard to say. Before this season she was fantasic at every competition. Now she isn't great at any.

Probably I'm repeating my self here, but since when the Russian Cup become something significant? If they were brave they could have sent them to the Challenge Cup to score 200, compared to Rika and not present it as the climax of Russian figure skating this season. Because it was not.

I am not really a Twitter person, but I followed this link now and looked at some Liza’s tweets, boy, she is the funniest girl ever!

Yet in interviews she is extremely quiet and not so sassy like her tweets. Very confusing at times to see her Twitter side and then her interview personality.

I can easily see them going with Konstantinova over Evgenia and it wouldn't be crazy either. It's not like one stands head and shoulders above the other at the moment.

And the only reason I can see for them not pulling the trigger and naming Liza is they don't want her and are looking for excuses or something. Judging from the cup final it seems behind the scenes Evgenia's got some strong backers and they or course like Konstantinova regardless of how inconsistent she is. All Liza has is her season results. You would think that would be enough but I guess not.
The Thing is zhenya Has the pcs as a buffer, neither liza or stasya have that, especially not stasya

They picked Stanislava?!! I like her, but in what world does that even make sense?!!

Go home Russian Figure Skating Fed, you're drunk!

I'm going to laugh if Kostantinova ends up going after all is said and done.

If I thought that this was their actual final list I’d accept it, she was the top senior at nats and 4th at Europeans was a great come back after the SP. However this is, they’ve admitted, them stalling for time and I’m worried that it will have a negative affect on the mental readiness of Liza or Med.

If they drag this out passed the end of the week it’s their own chances they’re hurting.

Since when Dragon Trophy means something? Rika Kihira and Miyahara also received lower scores than usual at their senior B events recently.

And her score at Russian Cup was only slightly higher than what she got at NHK earlier this season.

The scoring this season indicates Zhenya a safe bet for top 6 at Worlds? Hold up...What?? She wasn't even top six at her own nationals, lost to Liza and was 3rd at GP Canada, and 4th at GP France one of the weaker GP events to one of the Japanese girls who didn't even make her own national's World's team and Brady Tennell. I mean this ain't 2017.

We don't know what RUfed is thinking but obviously there is no possible way RUfed would send her if they were actually concerned with keeping 3 spots.

What does that matter when 3 of the ladies that finished above her at Nationals can't go to Worlds and when those Japanese ladies aren't going either? I'm looking at the Worlds field as it stands right now where all of the other countries have named their teams, which would be the rational thing to do at this point. There are very, very few ladies that can compete with her PCS (Zagitova, Kihira, Miyahara). It's not so improbable that a skate with comparable mistakes to what she had at the final could land her in the top 6.

Obviously the fairest outcome would be to send Liza, acknowledging that Zhenya's body of work this season cannot be trumped by winning the Cup Final. The fact that they aren't naming her outright suggests some insecurity about sending two Mishin girls that cannot compete with the PCS of two of the three Japanese ladies (Kihira, Miyahara) and only have hope of matching the third (Sakamoto) and potentially others.

Why don't the RusFed do a competition in Japan with the 5 ladies a day before de competition to decide who goes to the WC? I bet a lot of people would want to see that ... and problem solve .. the first 2 will go to the WC + Konstantinova

Stanislava didn't entirely bomb Euros - sure she messed up the SP, but the FS she came 2nd. She also beat Zagitova/Samodurova at Nationals - and was the highest ranked senior there - which was probably a big decider too (the GP silver, over Sakamoto, probably helped too). The big issue is her PB is under 200, which Tuktamysheva could easily get (and has gotten several times this season).

This also puts a ton of pressure on Zagitova/Samodurova, versus if Medvedeva or Tuktamysheva went. Hoping Stanislava skates well though and silences the naysayers (she'll certainly - likely - improve from last year's Worlds!).

I think there's a deadline for the entries. You also wouldn't want to force your skaters to peak right before the competition to even make it in and then falter at Worlds because they invested so much energy just to make it there.
