somtimes i feel for rena..s he is almost always PERFECT on the jumps... and if hse had a more consistant partner, she might have a world medal by now.

Rena is a more solid skater. Who will deny that? Anyway, I still think it might help if John would move over to the other side of Rena which I think would be his best angle to complete a sbs jump.

I don't think the poster said the throw 3A was easy. But do you think its so hard that it should make up for the fact that they don't attempt SBS triples in the SP and they almost always miss the SBS triple in the LP?
A pairs program is what 4mins30...the triple axel is one element that is over in under a second. It does not, a complete pairs program, make.

But it is all about the points and strategy. I/B have trouble with certain elements so IMO they added an element like the throw 3A, an element that Rena can land somewhat consistently to make up for the points that they are lacking and getting zinged for in their dismal attempts at the SBS jumps. I find nothing wrong with that.
Neither do I i think its a very good strategy, allbeit fairly risky in the SP, but good for them. The thing i was contesting was that iloveaxel seemed to be annointing them based on one element alone (the throw 3A) and excusing everything else that is not up to scratch with their skating.
Personally for me, the synchronisation o f their SBS spins is one of the best in the world. The throw 3A when landed is impressive. That for me is where the postivies end. I'm not wowed by their footwork. I don't think they move in that completely "pair" way of two skating as one as much as other skaters. Musically and artistically i don't think they stretch themselves at all and i rarely feel much emotion from their skating. I feel they are usually placed about right internationally.

I agree about I/B not being up to par as some of the other pair skaters, but I can't help myself there is something about them that I like. They do not leave me cold like the Chinese pairs P/T and Z/Z who are IMO ranked above them for their technical skills only. I must say that in the artistic area P/T have improved this season. JMO

!) than P&T but most importantly they have shown in exhibitions that they really do have emotion and personlity and can display it in their skating.

What planet are you living on? ....
Pang & Tong got their first 6 in artistry at 2004 worlds when Pang's posture was still quite sloppy.
What planet are you living on?! 2004 worlds was the last competition where 6.0 was used and the judges were throwing out 6.0s like...well like they would never be used again. the only time Z/Z ever "wowed" we was at the 2006 olympics when she deliverd that great program after falling like that. Pang and Tong are over rated to me... i really like thier exebition skating... they seem to open up and connect woth each other, but in competion they seem slow and she always looks tired. Inoue and Baldwin do have very nice side by side spins, but thier pair spin needs help... but then who's dosen't? ALl the pair spins seem slow this year.
Count me in on hating the convoluted Pair spins. Anyone for wrestling?
That is so true - it really does look silly and inevitably ends with the lady bringing her blade up to her head in some form or other....yawn.Pair camels, pair sits, change feet - beatiful moves. Can be judged on rotations, posture, speed, etc.
