Tomorrow are starting the first official practices. For the ones in Tokyo, please share your impressions and the news with us

Mao Asada, Nakano, Brian's practice footage
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBLnh-NQDL0

Both Mao and Brian looked strong. Mao's 3A looked so easy and it's actually hard to tell whether it's a 2A or 3A without replay. She really puts lots of male skaters to shame.

Looks to me Brian's definitely going to land on the podium, the question is gold, silver or bronze?

this was on another thread posted by iloveaxel.

According to a Japanese BBS

Buttle landed 4T+2T in practice
Lambiel Landed 3A in practice
Oda tried 4Lz several times but no success

It sgood for Jeff, but before 4 cont Ch he landed quad in practice too, but cant did 2 3-ax in FP. But in all cases its good, that he made it. Go Jeff!

It's reported that Johnny Weir was landing 4+2+2 and solo quads in practice...
Yu-Na Kim's back pain is deteriorating??? At least that's the limited characters I can tell from a Japanese report.

i have a funny feeling tha Johnny is gonna try the quad in the freeskate. I don't know if he will land it, but somthing tells me that he will try it. He isn't the type to accept that Evan can do somthing that he can't. As for Lambiel, i have no doubt that he is landing the axel in practice. Somthing about competion nerves really foul up that jump though, and why should this season be any diffrent. we may see two quads, not probably only double( if we are lucky) or single(more likely) axels.

I'm pretty sure Johnny will do a quad in a freeskate, and he will land it successfully! Why shouldn't he? A year ago he attempted the quad, and he was in much worse condition, but it went not that bad and now I don't htink anything will prevent him from doing it.

Mao had a runthrough practice of FP. Later she tried 3A four times, all were successful. She looks very satisfied and confident.

Nakano had a runthrough too. Except 3A(fall) everything was perfect.

Ando tried 4S three times, two falls and one stepping-out.

Joubert intensely practiced quads, landed a 4-3 combo.

Oda's 3A3T3L was OK, but quads are still uncertain.

Takahashi had some problems with 4T, landed only one clean.

Kim and Lysacek arrived yesterday.

Now, I wonder if this means her back condition is deteriorating, or that the pain is going away?

looks like the japanese will not perform quads, not miki can't say that miki is a surprise. I hope that she dosen't ruin her program by trying the quad and fallling or worse popping it. Where is johnny? I would think that with the huge time zone diffrences the americans should all be there already.
