go forth and conquer, tiny aubergine warrior!!

edit:....now that the SP is done, I'm starting to think that purple suit is really cursed :sad21:

Oh my god... of all the days, the 4F decides to rebel on tonight 😭😭😭

Aside from Nathan's humongous lead which probably won't be closed... I'm really glad that Shoma is in the last group. It was touch and go back there for a moment.

And aside from the flip... I really love Stairway, I really do. It brings out this amazing expression out of Shoma, including tonight. Many have conflated Stairway with Loco because of the overall similar "spiciness" of the programs, but Stairway is really different. Tatsuki Machida in a broadcast before the SP describes it as "fine red wine" and I agree: it's lush, sensual and just.. it's deliberately explicit. And the way Shoma moves and curves is just stunning, reminding me of how you would envision the curve of a guitar being strummed. It's really unfortunate that the technical errors keep plaguing it because it's such a gorgeous program, even with the modifications.

It's going to be a long two days ahead, but... I still believe in him. Fight back in the free, Shoma! Whatever happens, happens. You can do it.

Not the Sp we were hoping for or expected but it's not the end of the world either, let's see what the FS has in store for us. So many things can still happen and I still believe in him, too, MS turned out to be a really strong weapon this season and he'll be really determined
Glad to see him smiling in the K&C, it helped a lot at lifting up my mood. It reminded me that it's not worth being all gloomy, there are plenty of thing to be happy about

Just posting here to cheer on Shoma. He and Yuzu have been strong 'come-back' specialists in the past...they can do it again.
Great performance, despite the difficulties. :ghug:

Well he made me actually blush with the step sequence so that’s something he achieved today :o: He might have wanted to achieve something else but oh well... At least he seems to be in good spirits. Hoping for a redemption FS. I hope he gets a lot of hugs and cuddles today because he deserves!!

Aww, I glanced at the results before having a chance to watch the competition tonight. I am sad that there was a blimp in the STH, but that does not make me less enthusiastic about watching. That’s just how this crazy sport goes. May the Moonlight shine bright!

He's always been a strong free skate skater, so I have high hopes for the podium still. Still sending lots of positive vibes his way. Hope he gets some rest and a good portion of niku before Saturday. No matter how things end up, I always love watching him skate.
:points: :party2: :hb: :ghug:

Hoping For Bronze

Yuzuru’s reaction to Uno’s score... both telling and sportsmanship-like.

Also, considering asking my boss for ‘mental health day’, but if Uno can take competing, I prob could take worrying too much about things totally beyond my control.

Go, Uno!

I am hoping Shoma can get the bronze here. I think silver is lost. Yuzu scored higher even with zero on an element. I think that he will feel okay about his year if he can at least get that bronze. He has many things he can work on improving for the future.

It was my first competition to see shoma and I was broken hearted to see that 4F fall.
But Shoma maybe sleepy half the time but he is a strong competitor. And he will deliver it on the Free.

Hello, I'd like to check in to the Shospital. :drama: It's my first season of properly following figure skating and it's safe to say Shoma's my fave judging by the amount of time I spend worrying about him. Such a pity about the mistake but I'm glad he was still able to smile afterwards. Also, his facial expressions right before the step sequence?? Damn, boy *insert fire emoji*. I'm digging his new-found confidence! Hoping for more smiles after a great FS, wherever it may place him in the end.

He's so exciting live, isn't he? Hope you have many more opportunities to see him. I forget, are you going to see the Free?

We have quite a few new patients lately. We'll send the Shambulance for you!...I just watched the program again. Darn that 4F anyway! That was a good skate. It was fiery and he put his heart and soul into the steps and spins. Beautiful 3A, but I have to confess I still miss the hair comb move -- the best transition ever!!!:luv17:

I browsed his GoE, and that 4F really got him, called at as underrotated and, obv, deducted. But the total score difference save for N. Chen is between 96.81 and 91.40, that of 5.41. His skating scores are higher than Zhou and Rizzo, it’s just some of the judges got really impressed by Brown, up to giving him a 10, I dunno if it was called an outlier (?). And, well, two spins got just below 1 GoE... but that’s about what everyone got on spins GoE in the top 6.

Good night, I will go worry some more. :)

Thank you! I agree that it was a good skate, it was basically just one costly error. I really like the program and he sold it well, though I also miss this move you mentioned. :D
