I know someone mentioned the significance before, but I can't remember????
Help, anyone!
It's for good luck and protection.
That red thread really had to work overtime this season.

I hope so, but the change on television looking at the K&C + when Alina gets off the ice is obvious. There isn't any point in denying it IMO.
Go read Eteri's most recent post on IG with translation. It will give you some insight into what she has been going through personally since before the Olympics started. It is also a reminder that we never truly know what is going on with people. There is never just 'one' of anybody.
She is an incredibly strong woman. That kind of loss breaks you. For Eteri to have to hold it together for all of her students, her daughter and herself this season is super-human.
You can't judge someone's true feelings if they are determined to hide them for self protection. It's even better if you refrain from judging someone at all if you don't know what they are going through.
But I agree her love for Alina is more than obvious :luv17:
Eteri Georgyevna's position is not to be envied. She may work with the best staff and the best skaters and get the best results, but with all of this comes a huge responsibility and pressure to deliver those gold medals.
She is held responsible for both good and bad results and has to balance many parameters, often beyond her direct control, to get the job done.
Next year will be even more extreme, with Alina, Anna, Aleksandra, Alyona Ko and Alyona Ka from Moscow alone, and her other charges like Tursynbayeva demanding her attention.
At least Alina will always have good company and 'sparring mates' in the other girls.

Am I google-translatingly understanding this interview right? Yagudin asks Alina if Masaru is in good shape and ready for next season and will go to tournaments and Alina says we will see, that she already has a dress? Yagudin asks why and Alina says it's a secret? Lol, if that's what they're actually saying it's so cute! :luv17:

I wish but Nah they will keep saying she needs to add new jumps and get on a podium otherwise she is embracing Russia being such a terrible Olympic champ, u’ll see. On tv they were saying how 8th place for Samodurova was amazing and terrific and whatnot for her first Worlds but Alina’s 5th place saving 3 quotas for Russia is still mentioned as “a complete failure”. Female skaters of her level in Russia can only quit, if they cant get on a podium, they cant “just enjoy skating for themselves and fans”winning Worlds I think took off a huge burden from her that was why there was such a huge pressure. Now she can relax, sit back and can even let the wonderkids take the lead, she doesnt need to win anything now and the goal to peak should be in 2022 if that is her plan.

It wasn’t just stress...read her interviews she literally said she had physical problems with jumps but then u let stuff (pressure, hate) get into your head and u cant control your skate at all. She was doing fine overcoming puberty but all this dirt in the media and pressure, GPF trauma plus medical burn got to her on FS of Nationals where she knew she physically couldn’t outperform Quads, she skated short through pain it is obvious they didn’t let her WD coz TUktamysheva did, im sure Eteri tried. Same happened at Europeans because she broke after Nationals (she said it was the breaking point), she wasn’t fine physically AND was weak mentally, and her fs program is too hard. She is not gonna say bye, that’s literally what she keeps saying after every event, she wants to skate, she is too young to do the coaching, what is the point, she is not gonna say outright but i bet she will be trying to lend those 2 quads, loop or flip, i was betting flip coz she does it great, but now, Seeing how she saved her loop combo so amazingly this WC, getting such high, fully rotated loop out off not the best lutz lending, then lending it so confidently even with such a difficult edge...i was impressed and i think quad loop is more possible than anything else especially because it’s been her fav jump since she was kid.Eteri is truly a phenomenon in coaching. She has great courage to stick to her beliefs even amid great personal trauma in the last year or so with her mother's illness and then death.
As for Alina I'm very annoyed at all these rumors around that The Russian Federation wanted her to withdraw from the World Championships. I hope it's not true. Alina is a skater who on a good day scores the highest of anyone in the world only Rika can score higher than her at this point. So why would you want Alina to withdraw? It makes absolutely no sense and it makes me concerned that they put her under too much stress this season and that's why she crumbled in the free skates at both Russian Nationals and the European championships. I personally and not someone who handles stress well and to think the stress that the Olympic champion we adore went through this season is making me angry and frustrated. I hope Alina comes back next year to try to stay on top with her young training mates turning senior and the Japanese girls no doubt getting better. But I also wouldn't blame her if she said arrivederci.
Really nice praise from Yagudin -
"The sensations after her hire were better than from my victory at the Games when I sat in kiss and cry. With age, you start to value some things differently, although I am a cynic, I love purity and sincerity. I wanted myself after her hire throw out on the ice teddy bear ", - admitted Yagudin.
“Her victory was 100%. When she made a lutz-toe loop in an arbitrary one, she thought - and where is her crown - a lutz-rittberger? Warming up before renting, at the championships of Russia and Europe, I felt some weight of her skating, and she poured into rolling, "Yagudin said.
“At this championship, what was rolling out before short, that before arbitrary, I saw her confidence,” Yagudin emphasized. “Yes, for us in Russia in figure skating there is only gold. Silver and bronze are mini-defeats, but maybe It was they who freed Alina from the unreal burden of responsibility? "
I'm happy Alina's finally getting the love she deserves from Eteri, this victory truly is better than the Olympics in all ways!

So we're happy! but she wont have much to prove now, also russian skaters replenish next season and is no longer the sole burden even Med is on the upswing and can even lead again.
Trusova, Kostornaya, Shcherbakova, Medvedeva even La Tuk it will be more diversified.
He said it during commenting the fs, wgen Alina was in kissncry. These quotes look like machine translation, is there an original source please?
