Evgenia Medvedeva

Uh I am excited to see Evgenia's name now on the wall under World Championchips titles :D

But she got “only“ Bronze, didn‘t she? I doubt they put up all the medals their students won at Worlds, the wall wouldn‘t be enough. But I would love to see her up there one day... GO Zhenya!!

Oh yeah I rewatched the clip, only gold for World's is on there. Nevermind then XD
I saw a bronze on the Olympic side from Javi that is why I thought maybe they also add bronze's for the World's side

In the beginning I thought the same too and got really excited. But then I noticed... I so hope we‘ll see Zhenya‘s name up on this wall one day, too!

Yaaaaasss, spiraaaalllls

Maybe she plans to incorporate spiral in her program next year. I love Zhenya but her toe jumps and spiral were always no to me :noshake: Her skid spiral looked really unstable so I prefer this one she does now. Although I wish she her better leg-foot line but it's nitpicking really (Mao Asada and Adelina Sotnikova are my spiral goddess so my standards are hella high).

Anyway I have finally time to comment properly on Worlds and everything else so I do it now.

SP - Gosh Tosca is so well done program and suits her personality perfectly. Also I really like her red dress in this program. I hope that she and Misha Ge will continue to work together because clearly they understand each other. Call on 3T was weird to me as I saw many more UR jumps in this competition which remained uncalled but I won't throw shade at skaters as it's judges and technicians fault.

FS - Maybe unpopular opinion but I HATED the tan. It looked really unnatural and with nude lipstick it gave me "sick Californian girl" vibes. Evgenia seemed more timid and concentrated compared to RusNats and Cup Final but it was completely understandable - medal was in her reach and she needed to be perfect to get it. Flutz is still there and TBH I don't know if she will ever correct it completely but it looked for me more ! than e. Uncalled but I call it a justice for unnecessary call on 3T in her SP (also panel of judges probably decided that edge and underrotation calls are no fun as I could count all the calls on my fingers lol). It is clear that her old technique and new technique are now a weird mixture and when Evgenia is in the zone her old habits resurface just like that horrid 2A. But step sequence <3 It was a fire  I'm surprised that ice didn't melt. Objective fan inside says that Rika should have been 3rd but Zhenya fan outside was screaming when I saw bronze medal. This girl was through so much this season and when many already celebrated her fall from grace she came back to the top with World Championship medal

Re choreography: I'm in "ditch DW" Team. I can name 3 skaters whose work with Wilson was imo successful: Kim Yuna (not all her programs, just her 2009-2010 and Danse Macabre), Javier Fernandez (Guys and Dolls and Black Betty) and Daisuke Takahashi (In the Garden of Souls). I already read an opinions that Evgenia doesn't have charisma or musicality to make his programs work but honestly her charisma made that bland tango work. The impression from the beginning of the season to Worlds' performance was completely different and it wasn't the choreography that changed but Zhenya's interpretation. Besides it's like suggesting that Yuzuru has no charisma or musicality because he ditched DW for SLB (which served him well as every program afer R&J 2.0 is basically a masterpiece). Personally I'd like Zhenya to work with Jeffrey Buttle as I think he gets personality of his clients very well.

Did you take into consideration she had a lesion on her hip that was really painful when you commented this? Consider this may have been the cause for the technique and how “serious” she looked? And take into consideration Rika had two falls in this competition, while Zhenya had none...

I also believe she’ll have a perfect lutz soon. They only worked intensively on the lutz at the beginning of the season. As the problems came, they preferred to leave the lutz a little by side. But I’m sure she’ll work on it more intensely this next season, and I believe she’ll have a beautiful lutz. It only takes time. People expect her to be a totally new skater in less than a year, why such a hurry?

A lot of people have commented on Zhenya's tan in the FS but I didn't notice it? I thought it was just her makeup. I think she needed a red or colorful lip for her look. Either way, I appreciate long posts and this was nice to read! 100% agree with your assessment on DW.

I don't expect her to have perfect lutz soon because it's really, really, really hard. I once asked skater about fixing the wrong edge (majority of skaters have wrong edge on of the jumps or almost flat on both so it isn't rare) and she compared it to learning how to write with your non dominant hand. There was only handful of ladies who managed to fix the wrong lutz edge. Mao Asada was trying to do it for years and only in her last competitive season she got slightly outside edge on her lutz. If Zhenya fixes her lutz I will be delighted but if she doesn't I won't be surprised.

Also I commented on how her timid and concentrated look was expected taking into consideration the pressure and real chance to medal if her skate was perfect. Besides I don't even think it was a bad thing

They should put Gabby's and her World Bronze on the board.

Here is a video about TCC. There's a lot of Zhenya in it!

Is it possible to love TCC more?

Love seeing how Evgenia interacts with the other skaters at TCC. It is healthy for her to be with other kids her age, and have as "normal" a life as one could while being an elite skater.

Love how Tracy described their criteria for selecting new students - it does not involve seeing how tall a skater's parents are
