Evgenia Medvedeva

I know there is security at the Japan shows, but sometimes I fear for Zhenya’s personal safety. There are too many unhinged people out there in the figure skating fandom.

I'm worried about that, too. Not only in Japan, but also in Russia. After all the hatred towards Evgenia began there.

Well we guessed she would go back to Russia after Japan to work with Ilia on her short anyway. Why not add in another show?

Ah how I wish Experience would've evolved into an SP with that beautiful black dress and her hair like she had it at Worlds gala.

ugh, I don't want Zhenya to be burned out by another show. When's she going to have time to train quads/up the content?

After next weekend she will go back to training. If she does not go to another show this summer, she will have 2 1/2 months to prepare for the Russian Testskates and 4 1/2 - 5 months until the GP season depending on which assignment she will get. We already know that she got her SP in April in Russia, so she definitely already has one program ready and does not have them last minute like last season where she only got to train her FS 10 times before the Test Skates because she got both right before that.

I've been listening to this song for a bit, as I'm a sucker for such lyrical songs, and now I found this alternate music video and it's on ice! The beginning describes how I'll feel when she retires (sorry for talking about it now  I know it won't happen anytime soon). She's truly a diamond.

Well, they say people come
The say people go
This particular diamond was extra special
And though you might be gone, and the world may not know
Still I see you, celestial

With skating age and opportunities that favor the young, I think it's smart of Evgenia to make money and appeal to the mass to create more opportunities for herself. You just never know with these skaters-- there's always someone younger, faster, stronger, who can jump higher with risk of injuries that can be career-ending... Evgenia knows what she's doing and I believe she's doing what's best for herself. I'm also getting quite irked with all the "when is Zhenya going to train" as if she's just playing around for months.

I believe in Zhenya and believe that she's doing what's best for her at the moment.

And I believe she is learning from other skaters at these shows. Browning and Chan have great skating skills. Lambiel for new choreographed moves. If she goes to Russia from Japan to work on a show with Ilia. I'm sure Ilia would work with her on her short program. So for Evgenia it is a learning experience, not just play.

^She's also been training her jumps and most likely doing the exercises that Brian and Tracy taught her (and other TCC skaters). Of course these are not a substitute for the real-deal off-season training that will begin once she's back at TCC, but it also means she is not "cold" while she's on tour doing shows.

And if we think about it neither Liza or alina where training with their trainers up to this point.both were on holiday between the shows. And zhenya has been doing shows the entire time so I do not worry about zhenya and her training

To be honest, for me it‘s the total opposite. Like, I‘m not worried when Zhenya‘s going to train, judging from what we‘ve seen from her shows she‘s at it right now, even practicing 3-3 combos! She also has at least started to work on the SP, probably has the main choreography ready. Of course it’s not entirely like the real deal, she’s not seriously training as she would if she was at TCC right now but it’s not like she’s doing nothing either. Far from that, actually. There aren’t many skaters who jump so many different triples in shows, even loop combos. I‘m more worried whether she‘ll get to rest at least a bit. The other girls all were on holidays, relaxing, and then went to their shows. Zhenya has been busy 24/7. I know she said beach and sea and doing nothing all day is not for her but like... she‘s still human, so I hope she gets enough rest in between her shows. I‘m not worried that Zhenya isn‘t busy enough, I worry that she‘s too busy. She‘s so ambitious and honestly, she just loves to skate. I hope she doesn’t do too much and let’s her body calm down a bit sometimes. I trust her that she‘ll know best, though and she has people around her who look after her. She‘ll be fine. :)

I believe that she already knows her limits, especially after being injured and overtrained in the past. The fact that she didn't do any jumps in the WC Gala due to her strained muscle was a good indication that she is taking care of herself and knows when to stop. I also think that those shows are good for developing her artistry and maybe for regaining her confidence again. Throwing some jumps that used to cause her trouble, in front of a big crowd and under suboptimal conditions (lighting etc.) could help her to overcome the burden with the 3F-3T from her SP, for example.

Can't believe it's been more than 24h since the last post here

It's photoshoped. In original document you have Sambo-70 as her club. Besides she can't be officially member of TCC as funding from RusFed is only for clubs located in Russia.

Thanks for the information. I tried finding the document too, but I couldn't.

It's like we go through phases where we fill up a page or two in a day, then we have a couple days with a single post or two

I wonder when she'll announce her FS choreographer? Which GPs do you all want her to get?

I think she will get Skate Canada.

And I'm torn between Cup of China so she has the full set and NHK because she wants to go there.
