Evgenia Medvedeva

I think she will get Skate Canada.

And I'm torn between Cup of China so she has the full set and NHK because she wants to go there.

It will also depend on what the others choose. I mean, I doubt either Alina or Lil‘Bet would want Skate Canada so I guess she‘ll get that. I guess Alina would take Rostelecom and normally NHK because, let‘s be honest, everyone wants to compete in Japan, the audience there is just awesome. But this year they are back-to-back events, aren‘t they? So she‘ll likely take something else. But in the end, it‘s not exactly Zhenya‘s decision. I personally hope she gets CoC because if she medals there she‘ll have a full set of medals from every GP.

Yeah, that I agree with. Imo, she had very hard ones this season. So, maybe the skating gods will be nicer to her this year? Well, we can hope.

There's the slightest chance I might go to GPF, and I want to see heeeeeeeeeeeerrrr so so much!

Pantene had a giveaway some time ago where fans can get tickets for NHK to meet Zhenya, so I think NHK is set

Yeah, I know. I‘m just not too fond of NHK because it will likely be one of the toughest assignments... But I guess if she will be there, at least I hope she enjoys the atmosphere of competing in front of a Japanese audience.

If I could pick based on location alone, I'd pick Canada and Russia. But ideally, she'll get the easiest ones regardless of location lol. Though, I'm not sure any GP will be easy for anyone. While Zhenya can't go against Alina or Lilbet, one of Kaori/Satoko/Rika will be at each GP. And it seems likely that the 3 Eteri (former) juniors + 2 Mishin girls will be spread out among the GPs too. So, they'll all be difficult for sure, she's definitely gotta be prepared even if she gets an "easier" one.

Does anyone know when the assignments are released?

Does being seeded mean you can pick BOTH spots? If I were her, I'd select Rostelecom since she knows she's going to NHK. Then again, at least one of the 4A will be there. NHK is going to have Kihira for sure, and probably Sakamoto, so it will be tough. Are the top 3 or top 6 seeded skaters?

I want her to get whichever GPs are easier
That's not the Medvedeva way. ;) No matter where she's going to go and skate and whatever to Grand Prix assignments she get there's going to be two other excellent Russians there as well as a Japanese skater or 3. The really is no way to avoid it at this point. It's just the way ladies figure skating is now. The excitement is palpable. Zhenya must be pumped. I'm sure she thinks she's just hitting her stride and her career with her second year with Orser. Remember he said 18 months before she's at her best with him. If that's the case and we have no reason to think otherwise and she will have an outstanding season even with the immense competition out there.

I believe the top 1-3 will not be at the same competition and 4-6 will not be at the same competition. Evgenia was third so she gets last pick. Kihira and Sakamoto will not both be at NHK.

I loved it!

The girls on the podcast Flutzes and Waxels said this was one of their favorite programs from last season :) They watched it live at AC. They understand why she switched to Tosca, but still thought that this program had so much potential. Thought it was sweet of them :)

I think it would've been much different if she hadn't needed to deal with those awful things that broke her confidence. From all of the gala pieces she's done it's clear that she can portray anything if she's in the right place.

That‘s cute. Love it! :)

I don‘t understand a word tbh but the caption says it‘s support for Zhenya in Japanese news:

Imo, Zhenya‘s an artist. And artists need to feel genuine inspiration to portray and create something truly worthwhile. She doesn‘t just fake something, it comes from her heart. It’s just hers. Like she said in that Nike commercial. And when she‘s not in a good mindset and her confidence is broken like it was most of this season, people will see it. I think everything would have been easier without all the hate. But she went through it with a determination that is well beyond her years. I think it gave her immense strength to go forward to reach that goal of Beijing 2022 which is, if we‘re being honest, very, very hard. Some would say she’s crazy to even think that she could ever do it. Idk. Show them what crazy can do, right? ;)

I hope we get to see a confident and healthy Zhenya next season. Because then she can do anything.

Little bits of practice. Zhenya casually jumping 3S+3T with a rose in her hand.

I agree with you. I think it will be very difficult for Evgenia go to Beijing 2022. If she would compete for any other country I have no doubt that she would go. But we already know that she only competes for Russia and by 2022 they will be more juniors competing in senior.

That is the reason that women in Russia retire so early. It's impossible to stay in the elite of figure skating when constantly appear new girls one better than the other. For the country it's fantastic but for the girls' sporting career it's horrible. They must retire very young.
