Fair judging !!!!!

I agree Dave- the PCS marks are being used to place skaters. I don't think it's a coincidence that Emily received higher PCS marks than Joannie. Otherwise the US could have lost a ladies spot for next year! At 4CC when Jeffrey received lower PCS marks then Evan people responded that it happened because Jeffrey had a flawed program. Yet at worlds having a flawed program did not seem to effect certain skaters PCS marks. In fact they were held up in the short by their PCS marks to compensate for flawed programs.

Joannie got it worse than anyone. TES = 3rd, PCS = 10th in the LP, the PCS score just .3 ahead of Sokolova. This is where cheating is made so much simpler in the new system. Imagine that variance in the old system with the tech/pres scores, they never could have gotten away with it. A friend of mine once told me that the more jumps you do, the higher your PCS, well maybe, until they need you to finish below someone else.

There is no feasible explanation for what happened to Joanie other than to say the PCS scores mean absolutely nothing, they are utilized for placement, just as you stated.

Thanks MM!! This actually makes sense to me... I'm assuming that same basic thing is true with Mao... or not because she was in 5th after the short, which if I remember correctly was the kiss o' death in terms of probability of winning under 6.0...

(wasn't Michael Weiss the last skater to jump to first after a 5th place showing in the short - maybe US Nationals 03??? I can't remember these things...)

I don't know if Weiss was the last, but I'm pretty sure 03 was the year he went from 5th to 1st. That year the men's event was a real splatfest - Johnny Weir had a very real chance of winning but he injured himself and had to withdraw.

Don't forget it, please, under the 6,0s system, the order would be VERY different all the way through in every stage of the competition in all 4 disciplines.
.

Not in the ladies - i did the calucations on another board and the ladies result would ahve been exactly the same using factored placements.

 What, are you holding out on us????

Thanks though, that is interesting and a great point. Also good that the true was presented. Very appreciated.

Either that or Sokolova was grossly overscored for shoddy edges, losses of speed that had nothing to do with musical interpretation, and crossover-filled programs. Imagine that.

Fair judging? Except for the top two teams, I think the dance judging was waaaaaaaaaaay screwed up.

ITA. It doesn't seem fair at all to me that a team with significant mistakes medals over two teams who had much better skates. I personally disagree with having D/L up so high as well, but that is more due to personal taste and can see why the judges would have them in second.

I'm beginning to see the light. D/L would win the OD if it were based on a Fox Trot. For Free Dance one needs more non ballroom pair skating.

Or maybe some decent twizzles and step sequences, like the other top teams:chorus:

Wow, You sure like to put these skaters down. You are on every board with the same old, same old. Must have been ahead of your favourite skaters,

You are probably on every board too?:p Actually you're wrong, my favourite skaters were above them again  What bothers me is that they are overrated, they are ahead of other teams, which are stronger then them...for example Del/S or even some of the younger teams. And that is the reason to believe V/M will be very soon Canadian champions- if not this year, next year for sure. Lets wait and see.:)

No it is just my opinion and presentiment, actually i don't care very much about this team, so no matter what happens i am totally ok with it. I will be even happy if they improve the mentioned elements and win a World tittle deservedly.
