Wow kinda breaks my heart to read what some of you are saying about Maya. I know she had a rough skate, but was she really that bad? Funny thing is, when I watched the event live today I actually thought in the moment that Maya was more of a pleasure to watch than Kamila. I don't really follow Maya too much so she was a nice surprise for me despite the mistakes. I guess I was watching something different than all of you...
I hope she gets another JGP, I can see the potential. Clearly both girls had some issues the past two days, probably due to nerves. It was sad to see them upset, but I hope they are able to grow from it and continue to fight, if given the opportunity (Maya). Bravo to Kamila on a flawless quad and a deserved win and to Maya for medalling and winning the short. I look forward to watching them both again and seeing the improvements I know they are capable of!
I don't. I mean I'd love for her to get more chances. But if she were to get another chance, it'd mean that one of the other girls would have to implode. Because for Maiia to get a second assignment, one girl would have to either place 4th or place 3rd with a score below 179, and in this field, it'd be a disaster for them. Especially since Tarakanova, Sinitsyna, Vasilieva, and Tarusina should go senior next season if they do well this year. And a 179 for a Russian lady is not doing well, and definitely not enough for a GP (or for the fed to submit them).
I laughed loudly when I saw this. Come on, french fellows!
