I really hope she uses the same programs next year. They were much different than her normal stuff which, frankly, had become boring.

Sadly, Fumie may never again go to Worlds.

Well that depends on whether or not she can beat Yukari Nakano.. I think that that's quite possible, but she will have to be in tip-top shape and not commit a single mistake..

I wonder if she could master a 3-3 jump.

But how come she gets such low PCS? Her skating may be slightly slower than the other top skaters because of the stamina but she appears to have good edge quality. She certainly spends so much energy on her choreography and interpretation, too.

That is my most burning question in all of FS. And does it implicate the PCS scores are not truly fairly dispersed. I will stop now or I will go on for ever.

As you may know, I've just learned from another thread that judges start from skating skills when deciding PCS. So if you get low score on skating skills, you can't really get high scores on the other components of PCS. I wonder if she has substantially lower skating skills than the other top girls to the extent that it accounts for the 1 to 1.5 points disparity in Skating Skills (as well as the other scores on PCS), compared to Miki and the other top girls.

By the way, this season, esp the ending, must have been difficult for Fumie. I hope she is doing well, having peaceful time, and being able to skate happily again next season

I just don't know if she would repeat the same programs next season. They were nice to watch. It may be nice if she does because we weren't able to see these programs to be skated to their full potential.

She doesn't. She's one of the fastest skaters out there, with great edges, flow, and ice coverage. The scores she gets on skating skills often perplexes me. I think her lack of flexibility and stretch plays a part in the lower PCS, unfortunately.

Thanks for your info. That's really interesting then she gets lower score on skating skills. I do feel that she looks a bit tired at the end of program. But Yuna gets tired too.
And yes, she does not seem to be very flexible. But I don't think Miki and Yuna have greater stretch than Fumie, either (they are more flexible though).

I do not think "flexibility" should count in the PCS really, that IMO is in the -3 to +3 marks only. If he heal is above her head...etc... It counts. Skating skills are blades on ice IMO. It seems to be the way they judge sitspins.

Foot work seems to come up, but in comparison to the mentioned or even that team, no other than jumps. JMO

That is so sweet and I wish i could give her a neck rub (only 'cuz I know I am really good) and so glad I haven't heard that evil word I just never will want to hear from her - starts with an "r")

I'm not getting into the technical stuff (I don't understand Cop!), but I want my Fumie back for next season! I loved her free skate from this season, and wouldn't mind at all if she continued with it.

She has had some programs that I really liked in the past, but its her positions that hold her back. The positions in the spins, spirals, and layback are just awful sometimes.
She is probably losing points. I hope she will take some time to work on those elements if she continues.

OK, I must really have Suguri glasses on, I thought I saw some improvement on sit spins in transitions compared to 05-06 this year???

Speaking of repeating routines, I hope "The Girl From Ipanema" returns *swoon*

I doubt that fumie wants to do another year, she wanted to quit after the olympics. If she does however, i think that it willl not be by anymeans impossible for her to beat Nakano. Nakano never gets the marks that she deserves i belive. She really get smarked down for her "wrap" and if she tries the triple axel and falls, she can lose more points. If Fumie is clean, and Nakano is not, Fumie has all the chance in the world of making the world team. Let's not forget that she beat out Arakakwa and Mao Asada in the 2006 Nationals.

I think it is more likely this year, but hope not. She is still a top skater in the world.

I remember her having said after the olympics that Torino cast a spell on her and that the spell would not be broken until Vancouver. It was such a special expression that I remember very vividly.

Don't worry until she actually says that she will "r-" She certainly would in the next twenty years, but may not in a few years!

Weird. I clearly remember her saying at the beginning of this season that she does NOT want to retire, because she loves skating so much that she cannot imagine her life without it. She said she wanted to stay around until Vancouver, if possible.
I don't know if she will be able to stay that long with the injuries that keep troubling her, but I want her to regain her form and at least finish her career on a high note. She would make a wonderful pro skater - in exhibition she skates with energy and freedom and has great showmanship skills and contact with audience.

I thought so as well. IMHO she has great sit spins and layback, and superb scratch spin. Only her donut and catchfoot are not that great, because she lacks flexibility (which is sadly not surprising considering her injuries - just try to do a split or catchfoot while having a groin injury. Ouch.).

I am glad to see someone else agrees with the slight improvements, she definitely has a better sit spin than Miki. And I still think some of the best landings, I would think that would get some marks?????
