They work for me in Australia (with a VPN - I couldn't get Battle of the Blades to play, even with a VPN, as a point of comparison). :)
 
Looking to procrastinate, I came on GS, went through a bunch of threads, saw siberia's comment above about Roman and then somehow ended up spending 30 minutes or so watching some of Roman's youtube videos.

Found this one, where he shows a video of his first competition, which I thought was awesome and fun to watch:

Love the part where he does a 1S and says something along the lines of "if anyone ever told me that would become a 4S..."

Anyways, some jump errors, but not a bad start.
Only 3Lz-2T in the short.
Long: 4S (fall?), 3F, 3A-2T, 3Lp, 4S-Eu-3S<, 1A, 3Lz-3T. All L4 spins, L3 steps.

I was amused by how critical he was of his spiral :laugh: , and I didn't know he was trying to do pancake spins so early! Roman looked so different as a kid; it's almost hard to believe that he used to be the little boy we see in the clip. I hope he posts another vlog about one of his early competition programs soon.

I was actually surprised that Roman included the 3Lz again because he completely avoided that jump last season. Presumably (and this is the rumour I heard) he had an injury that prevented him from performing that jump.

The regulars on this thread know that Roman is the favourite of my favourites (although if he's not careful, Joseph may overtake him in my fandom heart), so I really, really, really hope he finds consistency. :pray: I was convinced that he'd be kicked out of the National Team after his 7th place finish at the Canadian Championships (especially after SC changed its criteria so that only the Top 3 instead of Top 5 would be awarded National Team status), yet somehow SC was generous enough not just to keep him, but also give him a spot at the SCI when it could've gone to Conrad (who placed 5th at Nationals). I sincerely hope Roman recognizes how very lucky he is, and that he doesn't squander the opportunities presented to him.

I think he is making the next step or is trying too - this is part of him getting ready to compete with the big boys - besides Canada right now is struggling to find a top ten male skater.
 
I wonder what Skate Canada's plan is to make Canada "great again." I think it is smart to invest in a lot of skater including Roman especially since Canada has no solid top skater right now with Nam and Messing show potential but then not very consistent - Nam also never seemed to fully develop from a former world jr champion I believe. His skating skills have not developed as far as some thought or hoped. Keeping Roman on the team is smart - he has potential. For the first time in ages Canada has no clear male skater threat. In the past there Brian Pocker to Brian Orser to Kurt Browning to Elvis Stoijko to Jeffrey Buttle (and for a bit Emanuel Sandhu perhaps) to Patrick Chan and then a mess. Certainly Nam and Messing have looked top five worthy at times.

The ladies while two goes to worlds looks even shakier. Dance has top 5 potential but the climb has been very slow and with ups and downs for Gilles and Porier. Pairs - well they are top 8 but rather ho hum. They also look to be passed by the Americans. Certainly there are some glimmer of hopes Aurora Cotop; Charlie and Luba in pairs and the Danadians. They have less than 3 years to get back into Olympic medal team shape. The up and coming male hope has hit a snag with growth, loss of jumps and pcs diving south fast.

Hopefully Michael Slipchuk and Skate Canada are doing some smart moves.

well just this weekend mtm2.0 and the canes won nebelhorn...with 4 great skates....clear winners
 
And in terms of developing for the future, there quite a few teams on that are part of NextGen, including 10 boys and 14 ladies.

I wasn't able to do the same for his short programs, unfortunately, because the full JGP Lake Placid Men SP video wasn't at 59 fps, and I can't seem to find the link for the JGP Zagreb Men SP (so either Ted Barton didn't upload it, or most likely something along the lines of "This video contains content from WMG, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds" prevents me from accessing the file).

It's also a new Personal Best score for them in this segment. :yay: I've already become fond of this team at Riga, and now I'm falling for them a bit more. :luv17:
 
Natalie's makeup was horribly overdone, and Bruce had Groucho Marx eyebrows.

The arena has windows bringing in lots of daylight, so there's no need for heavy duty theatrical makeup.
