I think Kirsten's costume is absolutely beautiful and perfect. But I agree about Micheal. He looked a little unkempt.

Actually I do like Kristen's ; somehow it does not coordinate with michael - even if he wore awhite dress shrit or a ubiquitous black dress shirt it wold be better.

Gabby just posted on instagram that she's been cleared for Finlandia, so assuming that means we'll be seeing her this weekend. Interested to know what condition she's in, and see her programmes!

I am confused - why did Gabby need to be cleared for Finlandia - is she injured- I know she has some other issues but what is going on. I wonder what kind of shape she is in compared to Gracie - I thought at worlds she did a bang up job getting Canada two spots.

She was off the ice for most of the summer after the collision at World Team Trophy aggravated her concussion symptoms.

Oh my goodness. I didn't realize it was that bad. Poor girl after all she has gone through. I really hope she comes back fierce. She is a former world medallist. I do wonder what shape she will be in? How will she compare to say Gracie? With Osmond retired and Chartrand taking tme off. Larkyn retiring. The national title looks to be her's if she can do her thing. Aurora might not be ready.

Unless there's a huge upset the national title should belong to Gabby. Kaetlyn's not likely to come back, and the rest of the field is otherwise not too impressive.

But then again, she has been quite unlucky with injuries/accidents so don't know what shape she's in. I think she is capable of getting podiums, but can she get them this season? Plus worlds is at home.

I guess we shall see. But either way, i'm hoping the injury gods are good to her this season.

gosh for a second, i thought i was in the usa ladies thread... can we keep on topic please?

That is on topic. Skater Boy was concerned about Gabrielle’s health and wondered if it was a Gracie Gold situation. I responded that Gracie’s situation is very different from Gabrielle’s.

None of which, of course, guarantees that Gabrielle will skate well at Finlandia, but she’s not facing nearly as steep a climb back into competition.

But Gabby is facing much tougher competition
I’m not terribly concerned with whether she medals at Finlandia, and I’d hope that her team has realistic expectations there (though it’s not unrealistic that she could make the podium). Primarily I just want to see her ease back into competing and not have anything go badly awry.

good you are not terribly concerned about Gabby's results Colonel... it would be a better world if all fans gave skaters a break... gabby has had a series of illness and injuries and to me, all that matters at this point, as clearly, she has nothing to prove anymore as a world medalist and an olympic champion, is to see her happy doing what she loves.

Just reviewing the GP line up and WOW MT/M got zero favours on their assignments.

There are literally cake walk to gold assignments and both of theirs are super difficult.

I realize IdF is easy due to the seeded skaters dropping out, but still!

They did admittedly benefit from one of the big withdrawals, namely, James/Cipres being out of NHK, but yeah, compared to say, the skaters at IdF, which lost both of its seeded pairs, they've ended up in the tough fields again.

NHK might be more favourable than it looks on paper because I understand Della Monica/Guarise were off the ice for much/most of the summer.

Based on their skating and improvements this season, MT&T should be in the Grand Prix final. Enough said.

I don't think there's any comparison to Gracie Gold. Gold was out of the sport to the point of becoming deconditioned and had to relearn everything.

I thought though Gracie was phenom so that make a difference. People thought she would win an OGM or at least a world title. I am just interested in knowing how good or ready is Gabby. It sounds like her injuries are just as serious as what Gracie has gone through.

I think they will be knocked out due to the more difficult past by the Americans. I hope not as I like the effort but I am afraid the knerims and Cain and Leduc really want to get America great again :)

I wish her the best. I would love for her to skate with joy and freedom and the power we have seen in the past.

Gabby's injuries and so on have nothing to do with Gracie and barely compare (apples to oranges here). I love and respect both skaters, but can the comparison and judgement of what they are going through please be dropped? Thanks.

They should finish at least second at Skate Canada if they skate well, and could even be first if Tarasova and Morozov are not on form. They can also finish second at NHK to Sui/Han with a good skate, and presuming S/H do what they can do.

But they do need to bring it, and skate like they did at Nebelhorn.

I absolutely think they can snag two silvers!

However it means being absolutely perfect across four programs while relying on others not being.

If the Kneirms for once land their jumps I’m sure they will over take MT/M. Also, who knows what Luibov and Charlie will put out. I guess we will know more after Finlandia.
