Jason Brown

So is this SkAm arena on the strip?

It's been 15 years since my huge work project sent me to Vegas six times (yeah, work:laugh: I stayed on the strip the first time, and was like, this is the first hotel room ever with *no* desk. No table. A bathroom as big as the bedroom. Vegas, baby. Found the Hampton Inn off the strip, with a desk, for every other trip;) ). Also no convenience stores in their malls. None. Go to the banquet or go hungry.

I won't go back, but I will be eagerly awaiting reports. Can't believe it's so close now:eek:

Vegas is full of hotel rooms. If you can't get one at the Orleans, you can stay at one on the strip. It's pretty easy to get around using ride-sharing services.

I should fess up and say I'm going. :) I'm doing both SkAM and SCI this year because I was able to take some time from work and the logistics worked out. It hasn't really hit me that it's coming next week because I've been SO busy with non-skating stuff in the last few months.

I really didn't expect the prospect that practice will be the first time ANYONE will see Jason this season but life presents twists.

Thanks for the advice! SKAM wasn't even supposed to be a possibility since we should have been on the east coast already for a multi-week trip visiting family, but our deck rebuild kept getting pushed back and we're still here. It's finally at the point where we might be able to leave in a week/10 days, unless the contractor disappears again... Thankful that NBCSports will be showing practice!

No it’s off the strip! We’re renting a car because we’re doing some stuff that requires driving and it turns out parking is free!

Vegas has changed a lot in 15 years. Between my husband and I we’ve been to Vegas a few times surprisingly have found some cool things to do and places to eat. Not sure how much we’ll be able to do with SKAM but already planned a few things.

I'm so jealous! Have a wonderful time and please report back as much as you can! If you get a chance to talk to Jason, tell him how much we're all rooting for him. I hope this is his best season ever, and I hope next year is even better!

The kind of swing he is swinging on was my absolute favorite as a kid - I loved going really high! Funny how I forgot that until I saw the little Jason clip.

Didn’t his mom say that he used to climb all over the jungle gym to the point where people watching were like, be careful, he’s gonna hurt himself, and she was like no he’s fine? Or am I misremembering?

So looking forward to seeing him next week even though I can’t go to SA!

FYI On Ice Perspectives has just added some nice slo-mo clips of Jason in its IG Story. https://www.instagram.com/stories/oniceperspectives/?hl=en There may be more in an upcoming IG Live.

I love what Jordan does so I just became a supporter ($5 month) on Patreon. He has a 4-minute vid of Jason up. It’s not the full SP. It starts with quite a bit of slo mo, shows a spin, combo jump and a few other things, then shows pretty much the full St Sq at normal speed (maybe a little faster? Hard to tell in contrast to the slo mo and bc Jordan follows Jason around). Anyway it appears to be from last August - Jason is wearing same thing he had on in FS clips and hair looks same. He looks good!

Is it inappropriate that I really appreciated the close-up on his bum in the second clip  i have to say, i really find jason quite attractive now, not just the haircut but he seems to have a newfound sense of maturity(?) that i really like! can't wait for skate america!

There is definitely a certain sexuality to those slo mo shots. Jason went from gawky kid to handsome man in the last few years. Jordan is very good at what he does and Jason is a great subject! I appreciate what both of them are doing. I am clearing my calendar as much as I can for next week to be able to watch the practices and competitions. Very exciting!

I’m really curious as to whether this is a recent interview or whether it was done around ACI. Last week’s interview with Kevin Aymoz was done at ACI. It would be nice if it were more recent, but either way Jackie has done good interviews of Jason before.

Which reminds me - didn’t USFS used to do media calls for SA? I know they’ve stopped posting them mostly, but didn’t the one from last year get posted by a local paper?

I inherited a small amount of money this summer when my father died and my one big indulgence was to get a 60" flat screen fire TV. I wasn't going to sign up for NBC Sports Gold but the opportunity to watch Jason's programs on the big screen was too much of a temptation to resist. I decided to re-watch last year's Worlds SP to get the app up and running on my TV. I was struck once again at how Jason performs at a different level than most skaters. As I watched the programs, most skaters (with a few exceptions) could have had almost any music playing in the background as they did their jumps. With Jason, every gesture, every jump and every spin accents the music and creates a perfect intertwining of sport and art.

I am so looking forward to seeing this year's programs and I know I will be ugly crying during his FS but at least it will be in the comfort of my home.
