2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

Bradie will need to be immaculately clean to have a chance at the podium. Had she not received an under-rotation on the 3T, she would’ve been at 76. Hopefully she will clean that up and come fighting in the Free.

:confused2:...…..What? I haven't seem scores......Which skaters are in the top 3!!

1. Rika - 81.35
2. Young - 78.22
3. Sasha - 74.40

Judges were very generous with PCS compared to SkAm, but very un-generous by handing out StSq2's to all top contenders, except Rika and Evgenia.

Bradie should have been ahead of Trusova imo - better spins, better skating skills, better performance. Think it was the UR that did it, but Bradie is really killing it this season - I love the sassiness of the SP on her!

I would have placed Tennell ahead of Trusova, too (and Trusova is my favourite!). This SP suits Bradie so well, and it seems she has lots of fun skating to it.

Maybe so, but it probably won't make a difference in the final result. If Trusova melts down (which basically has to happen for Bradie to finish ahead), I don't think she will finish close behind Bradie, so the few points difference won't matter.

Isabeau Levito scored 116.14 (72+ TES) in her FS at the North Atlantic Regional, landing 3Lz+3T, 3Lz, 3F, 2A+3T<, 3Lo+1Eu+3S, 2Lz (maxed out triples), 2A.

If she keeps this form, she will definitely be in contention for the junior ladies title at Nationals, despite skating novice at Regionals/Sectionals (which has lower PCS factoring than junior).

And until we hear it from Gracie or her coach, no one has any idea if she’s not doing FULL RUN THROUGHS.

Certainly not a certain website.

Is there any other source for this theory? (Other than the skate itself. Nothing is “obvious” about practice from a skate itself)

Probably because historically it wasn't her favorite thing to do. But doesn't mean she is not doing it. It's all just people's opinions and inference.

The consensus on this forum was she looked labored and out of shape in her regional. If you think that is "doing just fine", I would disagree. I have no idea if she is doing full run throughs, or not, though a few suggested she may not be. My suggestion is IF she is not, then she should be doing full run throughs.

Honestly, I think stamina is probably the least difficult thing for her to get back. It was important to prioritize jumps because if you can't do those, it's pointless to compete. She still has technical issues to work through, like spins and the 2A if she's planning to do three of those. Once she can do all the technical elements consistently in practice (and I don't think she's there yet), then she can focus more on stamina.

Its very interesting that she chooses to do 3 +triple combos and then do a solo double. It gains her the difference in points between a double toeloop and a double lutz. I've never seen anyone do that before.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Isabeau debuts a 3A/quad next season to prepare for her Junior Grand Prix debut. She’s hungry and her improvements from last season alone are insane. With more work on spins, edges, and speed, she can become something truly magical (if she isn’t already).

As for the Junior title, this year has tons of competition. We have Kate Wang, Isabelle Inthisone, Calista Choi, Jessica Lin, and Lindsay Thorngren. Any of the five ladies mentioned could take the title on their good day. Isabelle scored 167 internationally with about two under-rotations. That’s already 5-6 points. With levels and clean jumps, Isabelle is looking at the 175+ mark. Kate is not that far behind with a score of 165. Domestically, she’s looking at 175+ as well. Our junior ladies are VERY strong this year. I’m so excited to see how they’ll do internationally next season.

And with that in mind, it's critically important that the ladies sent to Jr Worlds are the ones that can hold it together competitively and place high enough to earn the USA a full complement of 14 JGP spots for next season.

As Alysa Liu is all but guaranteed a spot, the odds for 14 do seem pretty good. But, ice is ice.

I finally got to see Bradie's SP. She looked great and I'm glad she's in contention to medal. Her SP really suits her and I hope she does as well during the LP. I will be happy if she places fourth in this deep field.

I think Bradie has a good chance of being in the Top 5/6 at Worlds. If the three Russians are clean, they’ll be ahead. Then we have Rika and Young You, who if clean, will be ahead. Bradie said her goal this season is to be on the podium, but that will require some intense meltdowns from her competitors.

Bradie also got L4 on her step sequence as she usually does.

It’s also for the extra bonus point from doing a combo with a triple on the backend.
