No, it just means that the skaters I listed did not originally qualify for one of the team envelopes (A-C) but will be added to the Reserve team envelope now that they have been assigned to a JGP. If any of them medal in their JGP, then they will be promoted to the Team C funding envelope. And they could possibly get a 2nd JGP assignment IF they place high enough in their first JGP and there are still open slots.

Reserve envelope skaters can/do move up to "C"....Do "C" ever move up to B during a season (don't ever recall B to A)?

I'm sure the only way to move up is for others to be injured and then they go down the list. I'm just speculating.

I don't recall this ever happening in recent years. The possibility of moving from C to B (or B to A) during the season is not mentioned in the published team envelope criteria document for 2007-08.

I'm all for spreading around the assignments (JGP, GP, Senior B) to as many different U.S. skaters as possible. That said, Danielle Kahle (6th at '07 Nationals), Amanda Evora/Mark Ladwig (4th in pairs), and Jennifer Wester/Daniil Barantsev (6th in dance) don't qualify, under the current selection criteria, for any Senior Grand Prix except Skate America, and so I wouldn't mind seeing them being invited there like Nam/Leftheris were last year.

It would be nice if Kahle could get a SA assignment, but I think she has too much competition ahead of her for that spot. They way things are looking poor Bebe may not even get an assignment.

Caroline MIGHT get SA, as to a second event, it's all up to the host country. I would think CoC is far more likely than TEB. Last season, the French federation invited no US skaters/teams. No US men or ice dance teams competed in Paris, and Meissner and Inoue/Baldwin competed there as seeded skaters.

Are you sure? That's beyond bizarre. Do French hate Americans? I hope it's not due to Iraq war. Freedom fries = French fries, anyway. LOL.

Regarding Caroline Zhang, I guess she'll get invited to CoC due to her Chinese heritage. Her coach actually brought Zhang to Beijing while briefly lecturing the Chinese national team members a couple of years ago.

It's not the like the SGP. JGP event rosters are usually published online about 4 weeks before each JGP. From the JGP Announcement:
"Entries by names of Competitors ... must be made ... not less than 31 days before the first draw of the respective individual event."

No, they (we ) don't.
I don't know if no invitation has been made to american skaters last year but I think invitations are based on a special interest for a specific skater whose name is appealing to the spectators.
Sasha Cohen has been participating to the Lalique/Bompard each year as Weiss has at the end of his amateur career as well as Butyrskya, Yagudin, Denkova/Staviski or Drobriasko/Vanagas because the french public loved their skating/personnality on the ice. Weir could since he has a lot of supporters too (but there is already the russian invitation) and maybe in the near future Davis and White will have as much appeal if they develop in a way fitting our taste.
Other than a few exceptions, I have not seen much passion here for the american skaters/dancers. Americans are often viewed as excellent technicians but ... a bit zzzzzzzzzz.
So there is no point for the french fed to invite american skaters just for the sake of inviting if the public has no particular taste for them.

There will be some new american pets at TEB. They just have to grow up.

Passion is a national emotion. What one sees as emotion from one artist may not be seen from another. In N.America, with such a mixture of people there will not be one united passion which you are looking for.

They are released one event at a time. You can expect to see a roster 3-4 weeks before the start of each event. We should see the entries for the USA event around the 1st of August.

But as each roster is published, expect to see lots of changes right up until the event starts.
