I think I would like to know how the game is scored to understand why a typo is such an issue. Do the scorers need to correct the names by hand if they're misspelled? I honestly have no clue :scratch2:
As to why some people prefer to write the names themselves, for some of us typing is much quicker than copying, pasting and reshuffling names (while still risking a first or last letter to get uncopied and lost in the process).

Most of the scorers use a program to score the results and a misspelling will be misread by the program.

I did it by hand, and a misspelling can throw you off. Trust me, the names start to blur after looking at them so many times. And yes, it takes time to do the scoring. Why shouldn't the people take a little bit of extra time to make sure they have the names properly recorded in their predictions? It's hardly a day's work.

One of the algorythm advantages is that results come immediately after the competition is over. The other one is time. It took me 45 minutes to process 148 predictions. 40 minutes out of it was boring cutting and pasting into the spreadsheet. Welcome to try to come close to this result manually.

Well, as for the results. I shall list only the winners in ladies:

sweetice
Shakuhachi
jiawen2016
LanaD

with 65 points :hap10::agree::cheer:

106! people got 55 points. More than two thirds. Hence, make no sense to provide the list. But it is silver.

And 9 people with 50 points got the bronze.

if my math is right i got a silver in ladies :hap10: thank you to all the scorers and congratulations to all the medalists!

I used my automatic macros in Excel. They recognize some errors in names, but not all. For example, one user wrote here Roman Savosin instead of Roman Sadowski, this has passed. :) But when they write You Young instead of Young You, the algorithm does not perceive this. In the previous post everything went except this.
4. Yang / Yang :)

If anyone is interested, you can watch it. Download is not allowed.

I love this sheet, thank you
is it possible to get the sheet as I'm interested how you did it?
Can you add one column where you report the total standings after two games?

OK, now you can download this spreadsheet without formulas.
I count unofficially. My calculations may differ from the official ones if there were incorrect names of the skaters. For SC, I entered manually everything that I could. In the table, they are highlighted with blue fills. The official counter may don't this. Therefore, for incorrect names, the official result may be less. For SA, I checked and counted officially men only.
In the overall standings, I checked only the results of the leaders. BTW, you have 5 points more for ice dance in SA, no one corrects.
I can upload the tables for the Grand Prix competitions, if they are needed by scorers and users. Of course, if there are no objections from the organizers.

A special Yes Way! Yes Way! Yes Way! to Jrhamstercat89 for the dance bronze, who stepped out of the lurk and into the light on the Ice Dance board during Skate Canada. We love new converts! ;)
