2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Oh yeah... Trusova's PCS is the main evil of figure skating, why not just be happy for Liza without hitting Sasha? She deserves every single point in component score(at home GP, leader of the season was rated at 66, which is only 2 points more than in juniors)

If Trusova's component scores are correct, Liza's are not. They should be higher.

If she trained under Eteri, it would be:

4T
3A+2T
3A
3Lo
---
3Lz+1Eu+3S
3Lz+3T
3F

But... it's Team Mishin, so:

3A+2T
4T
3Lz+2A (Seq)
3F
---
2A+3T+2T
3Lz
3Lo

:slink:

Not everything is so scary in the kingdom of Mishin.
If Liza will skate last year’s program.

3A+2T
3A
4T
3F
---
2A+3T+2T
3Lz+2A (Seq)
3Lo

I'm not looking to start a fight, but I think Liza's quad kind of highlights the flaw in the logic that Zagitova needs to lose weight to be able to even attempt a quad. I will leave it at that.

Weight loss of Zagitova from the same song as Kamila’s quad in two weeks and Alena’s 3A in one day after Dasha’s advice.

not necessarily. everyone's body and composition is different. we can't make that judgement just by looking at and comparing the two of them.

Agree. I posted this in Sasha’s thread too, but it’s clear that what these athletes say in interviews is not the real story of what’s going on. They are keeping their training process very tight lipped now and only release videos a week or two before new elements are debuted in competition - Veronika’s quad, then Maya’s and I expect the same for Sasha’s. Remember those rumors from the summer? And most of them have come true. Just waiting on Anyas 3A and unstable quad (4F I assume) and Alina also.

Sasha 2 quad combos? Check
Aliona multiple 3As? Check
Sasha landing 3A but not stable enough for programs? I think this is now confirmed by the posting of the video just before GPF.

I totally forgot about all of those rumors, wow!! So at Russian Nats we could potentially have:
Sasha: 4sal, 4toe, 4lutz, 3axel
Alena: 3axel
Anna: 4lutz, 3axel (?), 4flip (?)
Liza: 3axel, 4toe
Serafima: 4sal (?)
Zhenya: 4sal (?)
Ksenia: 3axel (?)
Alina: 4flip or 4lutz (?)

4S from Serafima. She's posted videos of attempts, but I don't think she's been able to stand up on a landing yet.

I'm curious how all those "I want to jump everything" is ruled between 3A (4A minus Zagitova) in the same team?

I agree that the time it took them to get those elements may be longer than what they said in interviews. And that rumour person is suspiciously correct. I mean, it could have been pure luck - Aliona had already landed a 3A before, Sasha has expressed her wish to get one and she has done quite a few different quad combos - we've seen 4Lz-3Lo for example. Anna has landed 4F and 4T before so her getting a second quad wouldn't be very unexpected either. But that's still a lot of coincidences.

To be fair, Alina made that statement about herself. She would know her optimal body weight better than anyone.

I generally don't like that rumor talk, since it makes me too hopeful, but rumor person, please comeback and tell use more :laugh::biggrin:

I think that mentality is also inspired, at least in part, by her training environment and the intense focus on weight control there. Not saying she doesn't know herself - there are plenty of sports out there where cutting weight is a normal and acceptable part of the process - but losing over 6 pounds on an already fit body just seems like a lot to me :confused2:

Russian Ladies never cease to amaze me.

Btw. without them the board would have half less things to talk about

Russian Nationals is a splatfest. Serafima Sakhanovich becomes the champ. She goes to Worlds but falls on all 5 of her quad attempts, losing the gold to Starr Andrews of the USA.

Sakhanovich? No, of course it will be Gubanova that wins both Euros and Worlds this season.:yahoo:

But are we just going to believe that Sasha was lying about not having landed a 3A yet in her Skate Canada interview? And that Alyona was lying in her interviews about when she landed the 3A again? Because the rumors came in the summer, before either of them had supposedly landed the 3A.

Don't get me wrong, I really want to believe the rumors were true. Especially because one of those rumors was about Alina landing a 4Lz. And it is almost eery that the two quad combos, Alena with 3As, and Sasha with 3As have all come true. But I just can't see a reason why Alyona/Sasha would lie. If Sasha had in fact landed a 3A at that point, why wouldn't she just say something vague like "I'm still working on the 3A, its a work in progress" instead of "I haven't landed a clean 3A yet". Same thing with Alyona, why would she outright say that she hadn't landed a 3A until after test skates? I understand why they would wait until a strategic time to release the videos, but I don't understand why they would lie in interviews after the fact. But I'm definitely curious if anyone has a potential reason for that.
