Jason Brown

Interesting. He gave that same answer about his favorite book in the interview he did with Scott Hamilton a few years back. :)

I guess my memory is not what it should be, I did not remember that. :) I also don’t know if Jason mentioned the Oscar Wilde quote before this Q & A, but it is a good one and particularly apposite to Jason, as there is no one else like him in skating.

OK Jason now it’s time for an “I’m off to Croatia post”, let’s see it.

Maybe there were flight issues. I would have expected him to depart on Monday and there were a lot of cancellations that day in Toronto due to snow. No TCC coaches have shown up for Hanyu at GPF either. ETA: Ghislain is apparently there, just wasn't at practice.

I agree, it would definitely be nice to have confirmation that he's arrived.

Oh dear, I was so unaware of the weather situation in Toronto!!!!! :eekn: Let's hope everyone arrives safely at their respective destinations in time!!!!
(If they have too much snow they can share some of them with Rome, who could use a bit of witnry scenery )

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it was reported on Twitter that there will not be a live stream. :(

Tavi, you about gave me a heart attack! With a post of "bad news" in Jason's thread, I immediately thought the worst, seeing as there has apparently been no sign of him in Zagreb. In this case, I can accept the lack of live stream a little more readily than I would have otherwise. Show your face, Jason!

Hey, I refreshed the activity stream (we are waiting on The Coach Situation elsewhere) and the first thing I saw was a "nooooo!!!!" in Jason's thread.... :hpull:

Sorry! :slink: It didn’t occur to me that people would immediately think withdrawal / injury.

I have to confess I’m a bit annoyed that Skate Croatia simply never responded to my 3 requests for info and that they couldn’t even arrange a paying stream.

On the other hand it means I don’t have to get up at stupid o’clock and watch from behind my fingers. :)

If my recollection serves, Golden Spin generally doesn't have a stream. Of course, Minsk-Arena usually didn't either, and they did this year, so one could have hoped… Well, if not surprising, still disappointing.

Good luck, Jason!

Golden Spin usually has streams. Sometimes you had to pay and the quality left a lot to be desired but they were there. I don't recall having no stream issues like with Minsk. I just looked on YT and there are vids from previous years. The fact that there is no stream this year is highly disappointing.

@RemyRose is right - there is usually a stream. It is very disappointing not to have one. But I looked at the Challenger Series announcement and the ISU only encourages federations to provide television/ live stream - it’s not required. I guess if they want to encourage smaller less well funded feds/skaters to participate it makes sense but it’s a total bummer for fans. I’m really hoping some kind fan will post stuff on YouTube but I’m not confident it will happen. :(

Thanks for the correction! Clearly my memory was at fault (this is not surprising, it often is). Well, I'm glad I was labouring under this misconception, as if I had been expecting videos, I'd be even more disappointed. Hopefully some kind soul will film something. I'm not counting on it, but it would be nice...
