Yuzuru Hanyu: 2019-2021

Some parts of my post my sound defeatist, so skip it if you don't want to read that sort of thing.

This is why I was lamenting earlier about him being alone, I just didn't want to see him looking defeated. It certainly wasn't as harrowing as the times he was dealing with injury, but it made me sad.

Actually, I've kind of relaxed now... because I don't expect him to win. Could he? He absolutely could, and I would be screaming my fool head off if that happens. But it's been a long time since Nathan had a bad enough FS to be 13 points behind his nearest competitor and I don't really wish that on him. What I do wish, is for a clean Origin and a happy Yuzu. And I EXPECT him to remain injury-free and come back fighting. He was really focused and mature during his practices and is pacing himself well, even without coaches.

BUT PLEASE, LET GHISLAIN BE HERE SATURDAY.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go find some .gifs of that 3A and the step sequence because the rest of that program was STUNNING.

Well, Japanese TV will surely report Yuzuru all day, but I am going to skip them because I know how they treat him. Seeing small clips and reading decent articles on twitter is good enough for me.

I will try to do some work today, though I had given myself time off. I need to distract myself till the FS. :ghug: Yuzu, just stay healthy.

I don't usually chase Japanese media, so I'm not going to now.
It's too bad he missed the combo, but I hope he enjoy FS with a good lutz. He said he would like to put it in, so I would like to see his clean Origin with quad Lutz.
It would be his birthday when he perform next, and he wants clean Origin at Turin. I can only hope he gets what he wants!

My worry is that because of today’s SP he will very eager to add that 4lz on his LP and make his program technically difficult that he might injured himself. Oh what am I talking about, he is Yuzuru Hanyu whatever his placement will be he’s still the man to beat. And who knows we might see the 4A unexpectedly tomorrow lol

Can I criticize Japanese media even though I'm not Japanese? They treat foreign athletes like gods. They present Nathan as the optimum figure skater and Yuzu as the underdog. Of course, when Yuzu wins they shower him with praise but even then they sound like it was a miracle that he won. I want to shout at them "He is the best skater of all time, he gets everything through his wisdom, hard work and determination. Show some respect for God's sake."

Ok, I vented out, now the moderators can remove my post :cool14:

That's exactly why we need Briand there ASAP. Anyone needs to consult to an expert at these times.

Yeah, the Kuyashi in him will be very strong. Same thing happened at WC 2017 when he wanted to keep practicing & drilling but Brian & Tracy told him to go back & rest.

Hopefully Ghislain can arrive in time to balance things out, and to keep Yuzuru from going into over drive mode.

Like I've said before, the kuyashii mindset isn't really helpful for Hanyu.

I don't get how Chen is able to be chill and skate so well while Hanyu is getting himself worked up all the time and not skating as well or as relaxed. Maybe it's time for a mindshift before he continues to psych himself out.
