2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I was really surprised that she kept going after her Gold at Worlds last year. Most skaters will take time off after that even after the Olympic Gold as their time is so in demand. She is only 17. She has time to learn new things and come back stronger then ever. Most who take a break do not keep on training so yes they have lost that edge. What ever her choice may be, I wish her all the best.

I hope Zagitova has a great time doing the shows, earns decent money and has plenty of time to figure out what she wants to do. I think it is very thoughtful of her to make an announcement when another young lady could get a spot to compete in the Nationals. All the best and lots of love to her, and I really hope she can get one of these power jumps and come back in a year or two.

Also, Tuktamysheva rocks on that combo!

Alina surely earned that break. It's sad, though, that 2 of the 3 2018 Olympians won't compete at nationals only 2 years later.

You asked questions that Liza does not want to answer. the ex manager is to blame but like you pointed out who know why was everything edited after that? Hmmm.

Is Alina taking time off just to get a break or is her hip injury causing this? If Alena or Anna cannot make Euros or worlds for some reason then Alina needs to be ready to go. I hope she keeps her head in the game. I also hope she enjoys her shows had all the love and fun that will come from them.
You have zhenya and liza for that. Alina is not needed to be on standbye

Why does Alina need to be ready to go? Liza or Evgenia can go, the Russian team has enough depth that they don't need Alina.

Because you only get a few Europeans or worlds in your career. Alina Zagitova has had two worlds and two European appearances. That's not a lot. If there's something wrong with her then you definitely don't skate. But I read somewhere that she's going to go back to training everyday.

She has earned it. She dedicated her life to winning, she won everything there is to win. She is young and beautiful and I'm glad she is going to enjoy her life and hopefully make lots of money. I hope she has lots of fun, and I suspect she will. Maybe she will miss the day to day training and grind, maybe she won't. Alina is going to be just fine.

I wonder who she's talking to?
She says: "I've listened to you and almost lost my sister (due to that)" at the end of her verbal diarrhea

Rodina perhaps? Is this person mentally deranged and obsessed bringing down Zagitova, Tutberidze and the Khrustalniy skaters?

And those twats of TSL will have a field day bashing.

I don't get it at all.

It would be one thing if Alina blamed Eteri for her problems.
But she always has been respectful and thankful to her coaches.
And she shoulders the blame herself for losing competitive focus this season.

Maybe instead of criticizing Alina, this person should try to act more like her.
You know, act like an adult.

From what I see, the last sentence means Eteri and her sister had a falling out some time before("almost lost her"), and now she's overcompensating by being unnecessarily defensive???? :scratch2:
I don't know, this woman always confused me. Looks like she's on her way to have another falling out with Eteri.

Eteri's sister is at it again. Bullying Alina once again :(

Sometimes family members really can be a LOT........
maybe Liza can punch this woman in the mouth. ;)

It comes off as her trying to defend Eteri against criticism by saying these inflammatory things.
where do you think the sister gets these thoughts from? There's only one place people.

I was hoping to see Alina skate 2 clean programs at Russian Nationals, however it was painfully obvious she has not been happy skating for the past 2 seasons. Last season she looked truly miserable and there was talk of her wanting to withdraw. She was making everyone happy but herself.

I’m truly happy for Alina that she made a very difficult choice and I hope she finds her happiness with whatever she decides to do. She is a superstar in Russia. I don’t see her star fading anytime soon. Go and be a role model for all the skaters that will follow your path. These girls won’t be competing forever. Alina is 17- so far skating has been all she had known. Someday she will look back and remember when she was a child standing on the top of the Olympic podium. I hope her memories of everything after that are good ones.

Kudos to Alina. And to all these athletes. Find your happiness.

Social media is not her friend!

Alina has always been a class act and this once again firmly cements it.

Whilst I'm sad that she won't be competing anymore, in true Alina style she announced it at an appropriate time so as to give another girl a chance.

Love this girl and to this day I still watch her iconic Olympics LP at least once a week.
