Strangely, Alysa Liu won't be at Youth Olympics but Young You will be there! That's really tough competition for Sinitsyna and Vasilieva.
Youth Olympics is for 15-18 years old athletes
So after the new Tutberidze dancing video came out I want to say that awhile ago I stated that Anna has better musicality and artistry than Alena and not ONE single person agreed with me. Now I'm asking you all to watch the video and compare Alena to Anna because it is very clearly evident how much better musicality Anna has compared to Alena

topic: YOG conflicts with US Nationals, so Alysa will be at Nationals instead.I'm really unhappy Alysa won't be at YOG because apparently a Nationals is more important than an Olympics. I know, it's not the 'real' Olympics but for a youngster it's quite a competition! The two best Junior Russian ladies are going (rightly so). A bit of competition with Alysa would be great.
The two best junior russian ladies are not age eligible.
I do think it's sad how the US hasn't taken full advantage of the opportunities for things like the Youth Olympics and the Universiade. But US nationals is usually the most watched figure skating event in the US for the year... moreso than Worlds.

Two different views of the new dance! I'm so happy the dance videos are back in business![]()
So, I'm thinking...the Top6 at Nationals are quite certain, right?. I think they are:
Anna Shcherbakova
Alena Kostornaia
Alexandra Trusova
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
Evgenia Medvedeva
Ksenia Sinitsyna
I really can't see anyone else get into that Top6.
If someone else gets in there, that would be a sensation don't you think?
Wut. I'm shocked how less musical Kostornaia comes across in these videos. Guess all those posters raving about Scherb's musicality were onto something.
This is what many have been saying for a while, that musicality and skating skills are separate entities (it's seems to be widely believed that jumps are technical and skating skills are considered equivalent to artistry. But, both Anna and Alena have very different strengths. Anna is infinitely more musical, but I also think Alena has much better skating skills. Many people mistake Alena's skating skills for musicality as it allows her to skate "bigger". Just like how many people mistakenly believe that Anna is not artistic because her skating skills aren't as good. But really, Alena's strength is technical (SS) much like Sasha (jumps), and Anna's biggest strength is her artistry (musicality and interpretation).
A skater with very good musicality and skating skills is Tarakanova. Unfortunately, she's had some big problems in the past few seasons (lost her motivation and passion for skating, jump/consistency issues, multiple coaching changes, etc.). Same with Gubanova.
Nothing is certain at Russian Nationals! But I would agree that if all skate their best, this is likely the top 6.
Might be the truest statement in figure skating. Last year was a rollercoaster. In what world would anyone have imagined that Stanislava Konstantinova would "win" senior nationals ahead of Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva. Let's recap: Stasya was the highest ranked senior and if juniors weren't competing, she would've been national champion. Never qualified for junior or senior GPF, never podiumed at junior or senior worlds. Ahead of Olympic gold and silver medalists.
Hopefully no one has a meltdown this year.
Wait, who are the best two junior russian ladies? Kamila I get, but who's the other one? I feel like Sinitsyna is the second strongestThe two best junior russian ladies are not age eligible.
