Evgenia Medvedeva

I understand why she's not an alternate for Euros but if they don't put her on the list for Worlds I'll have questions... For now I'll just accept it. Either way I would like to see her compete in a Senior B if she get's that 4S somewhat stable so she can try it in a comp where there's not much at stake. And I agree that bringing back Memoirs for the Olympic season would be great! Though she delivered good performances of the program I still feel like we haven't seen the very best of it.

Explain it to us. Her Grand Prix season was good, she has a high SB. No reason not to include her.

Yes, and Zhenya scored around the same last year and was 4th from the senior. The situation is compareable.

The best option would be if Zhenya herself decided she didn‘t want to be alternate and chose to end her season now to have more time to train. Somehow, I really can‘t imagine that, though.

On the show and no boots? She might have an old pair somewhere in Moscow with friends, otherwise ...
She'll have to ride the patched up ones for a few days until proper new boots can be bought. But perhaps she's been smart enough to place an order with the big Moscow store in advance. Still ....

I gather the Concertos she managed to acquire in Krasnoyarsk weren't even her size, because they'd probably be good for the show otherwise.

In her post on instagram she wrote that won't be able to jump during the first few days in the Averbukh show, I think this means that she will have new boots at the show and will have to break them in the first few days before she can jump.

I can't imagine it either. We all know how much she loves to compete.

My educated guess is she bruised her ankle or foot in one of the falls she took Saturday morning.

I don't think with the shows, and new boots, Europeans would be an option for her. Again Worlds are in Canada and I hope she's named as an alternative. And she may have a few bruises right now.

I know, I don't understand it.

“The composition of the Russian team is quite strong, it was formed according to the results of the championship of Russia. The history of our federation also has years when the results of previous large-scale competitions, such as the Olympic Games, European and World Championships, were taken into account. But this season, the coaching council proposed a roster based on the results of the Russian championship. The executive committee of the Federation approved this proposal, it’s normal, ”TASS quoted Moskvina as saying
.

They changing the quali rules like they want. The question is when did the coaching council proposed this change and why did they make this change. "The history of our federation also has years when the results of previous large-scale competitions, such as the Olympic Games, European and World Championships, were taken into account", it´s the Grand Prix season who was also taken into account in the last years for the third place in the Euro team+ the first alternate who was also decided over the coaching council with the Grand Prix season taken into account.

Welll... I think is a smart decision form her ... I'm not a choice this year... without waiting for something to happen until the worlds .... she wouldn't be a choice for the main team except if one of the 3A get sick or have a breakdown ... if that's happen I think Russfed will put zhenya in worlds ... Now she has time to update her tech score without the pression of the competition ... get focus on that ..

Russ Fed needs Zhenya ... she is the russia symbol of figure skating... we can like a lot 3A but is the presence of tuk a zhenya that puts more interest in national championships and outside ... so it's a long term plan ...

What is interesting is that Zhenya switched to Ice Flys after Rostelecom Cup. I wonder if the Pianos got uncomfortable this season. At several competitions this season e.g. ACI, Shanghai Trophy, Skate Canada, Evgenia took of her boots immediately after the program in the K&C with a face that showed pain. Ice Flys are known to be more comfortable and less stiff than Pianos, so maybe the Pianos gave her some pain this season.
A fan also noticed that:

It is so weird to see Zhenya no longer in pianos *whisper* I prefer the look of Ice Flys though *whisper*

After the Averbukh shows there's basically two weeks left to break in new boots and prepare for the competition, I simply think that's not enough time. It's not only that one of her boots unexpectedly broke, I also wonder why she switched to Ice Fly's. I think boot issues can't be as easily solved as some people think.

Yup, thought so too. I don't think she can simply get new boots and be ready for whatever competition they want to send her to next. At this point she can't know how long it will take her to find a solution to the problem she currently has. That's probably why she said we'll see her again at test skates, or maybe Senior B's. If they can figure out the issue and solve it soon she can compete again this season, otherwise next season.

Moskvina gave us the reason.

About boots: I agree with Luna.

I disagree. Break in the new boots and she would be competitive. She did not mentioned that she has a problem with Edea Ice Fly before they broke.

Canadian Federation would also have to pay RusFed a fee. For example the German Federation had to pay aorund 30k-40k to get Bruno Massot released from the French Federation. Releasing Zhenya would be much more expensive.
Also she would have to sit out 1 year of competing internationaly and I doubt she would be able to get a citizenship in just 1 year.

Zhenya only wants to compete for Russia and I respect that. She loves her country.

According to your information, I guess the year starts counting from the last time that the athlete competed internationally, not?

In this case is in November 2019. If she decides to change her citizenship could she compete for another country in December 2020?

Ready in time for Canadian Nats and Four Continents.:)
