I eagerly await a translation! Maybe extra fs will do one on YouTube...

These are great!

#32 (the one where she's making a funny expression) is the most Aliona-like, in my opinion

Yeah, I really like it, when she makes funny faces! (and she's very good at it...)

This work with Mariah is amazing.
It's like skating with her.

I can't take my mind away from thinking about having something like that for Aliona's SP
I could watch it for hours

Yes, absolutely!! Jordan Cowan from On Ice Perspectives has done numerous videos of this kind including synchro teams which are fabulous... he seems to be making his way to international locations too... I would love love to see such a video to Aliona's skating...

I'm going OT now, but I advise anyone to watch Papadakis/Cizeron Tango.

After all we are in Aliona's thread and I think people who love beautiful skate can appreciate ice dance.

... And Piazzolla is one of my favored composers.
I did rarely found so romantic and moving music like Astor's.

Seeing the word Aliona and Tango makes me think of Aliona’s beautiful program to Adios Nonino - her best program yet IMO. I would love to see her take on a tango again in the future. It would be perfect for the Olympic season - totally fits her combination of elegant skating and fiery personality.

The more crowdfunding On Ice Perspectives receives, the more competitions and shows [ETA: and training centers] Jordan Cowan can get himself to and then shoot (internationally and in North America).

I have no doubt that Aliona is on Jordan's wish list for future videos.
When it will be financially and logistically possible for him to shoot with her is a separate question.

[elbkup, I know that you already are well aware of the extreme importance of crowdfunding for Jordan -- but perhaps others in this thread are not.]

1000% agree with this SkateSkates.

Do you have a particular piece in mind?

I know earlier in this thread, people suggested that she skate to Aranjuez--not a tango, but definitely a Latin flair. I also could see her skating to Piazzolla's 'Oblivion,' but personally I'd like something fiery and intense for her.

**

So Aliona is on the list to go to Worlds!! :yes2: No surprise there, but it's nice to see it in writing.

HOWEVER, given what happened last season, I'm not going to say anything about this until I see her on practice ice in Montreal--hopefully with my own two eyes!!

PLEASE STAY HEALTHY, ALIONA!!!!!

Yes, that was me who offered Aranjuez as a musical selection for Aliona. It’s my dream for her! But I would also love to see her to another tango program as well. Anything but Libertango - it’s so overused!

All the Khrustalniy skaters make full use of the complete ice surface, check their Skating Maps.

Speed and length of their tracks are exemplary.

Montreal has the typical narrow rink, so European, Japanese and Korean skaters will be at a disadvantage: the might need to cut a few corners or skate very close to the boards.

Alyona has skated on narrow rinks before? Not in her GP stages, only in last year's Tutberidze Show of Champions because of the premium seating inside the boards.

Does her program needs adjusting, esp in setting up her huge and beautiful triksels with their full speed entries and exits?

Oblivion, Invierno porteno (reworking or cutting the cadence), Vuelvo al sur, Romance del diablo (skip intro)
that just come into my mind just from Piazzolla but probably a lot more suiting pieces.
Agree on avoiding libertango (like Carmen... I wonder if I could ever watch a skating competition without it)

I think I may be the only one who doesn't want to see Alyona skate to Aranjuez. I can't stand the music, but maybe she could get me to change my mind. I know Piazzolla is kind of overdone, but I think she could do such a beautiful Oblivion. She needs something that has the same command as Adios Nonino.

I'd love to see her do Danse Macabre, but I doubt her team would go for it since they just did a program to it for Lilbet. I wish Eteri choreographed Alyona more. Daniil just doesn't seem to know how to maximize her abilities.

I just read from a couple of places that Alyona actually used her phone as translator in press conferences. May I know if there are more evidences?

1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4aUsSZn414
There are two comments:
- she is using TRANSLATOR.
- It's actually a translator. She is watching the conversation on her phone to help with language.

One comment: Well, actually me and other people were mistaken! Tatiana Flade said that Sasha and Alena used their phones for translation.

Especially (2), I would appreciate it if anybody can point me to where Tatiana Flade said about using phones for translation.
I just hope that this is true and I can show tell people that Alyona kept looking at her phones for a reason.

Thanks very much for keeping us updated on this very important issue... Jordan's remarkable work doesn't "just happen"...

Four things regarding the phone, that I've been thinking about for a while, but which are just personal observations and not 'facts':

1) I got the idea that she might be using her phone to look up words, too. Seems plausible to me and would be interesting to know if Tatiana Flade did indeed say something to that effect.
2) If you look at that video of the interview you posted there, from 8:36 to about 8:40, Alyona looks down as if to check her phone. Before and after those frames it is clear that her phone is on the table in front of her, so she can't be looking at it. Perhaps looking down is a way to concentrate her thoughts or something she does when she is listening attentively. I certainly know situations, where I might be closing my eyes or looking away, not as a form of lack of attention, but to focus attention on listening. (Or maybe she's fighting sleep, because she only slept for four hours :p)
3) Even if she is on the phone, she might be answering questions of people on social media or elsehere, so it wouldn't be too different from answering questions of the press. :eeking:
4) Wouldn't it be an awesome shot if the camera turned around to show the press - and everyone was on their phone? I'm sure many are in fact not keeping their attentions entirely off their phones, either to translate things themselves, take notes or even because they are bored.

I agree about Oblivion. I think this one would also be good.

I think she would do an amazing performance to this arrangement of Toss a Coin to Your Witcher. No lyrics, just piano. It’s powerful but retains a lot of delicacy.

https://youtu.be/GwdQliEv6Z0

Idk if this is super appropriate for a competitive program, but I’d also love to see her skate to this.

https://youtu.be/-Ft0-POvacY

I’d also have to say anything from Ludovico Einauldi, specially the Divenire album.

The score to Interstellar, specifically the main melody for No Time for Caution

https://youtu.be/UDVtMYqUAyw

Idk. She could skate to anything, tbh.

Yes! Interstellar! I wish one day I could see my favorite skater skate to the soundtrack of my favorite movie. [emoji4]

(How can I never quote correctly?)
