They say she has power of expression is "bewitching." Aliona says (according to the Japanese translation) "I know I excel at expression/artistry. But that is thanks to the coaches. It's not at all due to my hard work."

Perhaps one of our Russian speakers can offer a better translation...

For reference, for the 2016 Worlds in Boston, I gave Elena Radionova a Harvard University hoodie, because I thought it would be a good souvenir from Boston, and I was really pleased to see that she actually went to visit Harvard and wore the jacket a few more times after that! :luv17:
But I don't know what would be a good souvenir from Montreal/Canada...or maybe I should get something from the US (where I actually live) instead..?

Maybe you could get her a twilight sweatshirt or tee shirt. I know Aliona also like unicorns, however I think that she gets a lot of those. She would probably enjoy a sweatshirt or a tee shirt related horses. It would be cool to give her a horse back riding helmet that had an ice skate bejeweled on it, but that sounds kind of pricey. I don’t really know of any places in Montreal because I have never been there, but maybe you could look up some places.
 
I bet she'd love Twilight or Vampire Diaries memorabilia. If you want to do something horsey, I would not do a riding helmet - those need to fit properly, plus meet safety standards, and good ones are pricey. But you could always get her a saddle pad, as they come in all sorts of colours, and are much more affordable. Ooh, that is a lovely idea Vemvane! :agree: But I think you should be the one to give it to Aliona, since you two share a love of horses. ;) So hopefully you can get to see her in person sometime! :yes:

As for me, I am a Vampire Diaries fan like Aliona :biggrin: so I think I might go with that idea... The only trouble is that there is actually a lot of selection! If only I knew who Aliona's favorite characters are! Or even what color she likes! :drama: :laugh:
 
I think some people here (& also twitter) might be overreacting :noshake: the thing about 4S is that even her whole attitude about the question when interviewed was pretty much hesitant, she always imply how it wasn't ready, she gotta learn it from zero etc only Daniil with his bold statement at nationals so far (i don't even trust him as he's not the one working with content planning...) also alyona's strategy so far has been maximizing what she had, rather than taking risks, I even got the impression that she dislike risk actually :laugh:

And for her last show... Adding to the production error (she handles it well tho), she had a nasty fall guys, she slipped. She land on her hip hard and looked a bit surprised after it. This also happened on Euros (tho the fall isn't as hard) her elements following the fall was kinda off. Personally, i don't even think it was a back pain, but rather her hip and shaken mental state that affects them.

going by facts, i think we should all relax a little... let's not go into the Worlds week by worrying so much, I learned that it prevent me from enjoying her skating as a whole :laugh: ever since GPF hahaha....

Worry prevents enjoyment that’s for sure. We should relax about Aliona but that’s just not our nature. We are worrywarts. She has the best skating skills without question. She can handle everything just fine. I just don’t want her strong minded coach to push her into something she’s not ready for. Aliona is not a machine.
 
Aliona is very strong minded herself. I don’t think she’s pushed into doing anything she doesn’t want to do. She seems very self aware about her current tech content and the content of her competitors.
It seems like she wasn’t forced to train the 3A again and only tried it once she realized she needed to make a change in her skating. I think Daniil also said they had to stop her from secretly doing jumps post injury last season against the doctor’s orders. So to me it’s more on the coaches and adults to stop her from overtraining, because she is ambitious and will want to work on and perfect whatever she needs to win. And if she thinks she needs a quad to win, I'm sure she is pushing them to allow her to train it.
 
I remember we did similar things at school to gain proper coordination, just with the assault rifle (that belongs to Alinona's favourite school subject :biggrin:).

Me too, but I’m nervous about the situation with the coronavirus. Other events are getting cancelled but nothing about worlds being cancelled/postponed/any restrictions to protect the athletes and coaches (at least that I’ve seen). It must be tough to train for the biggest event of the season knowing there’s a chance it might not happen at the last minute. I hope whatever decision is made, the health and safety of the participants is being prioritized. Although of course I want to see Aliona skate at worlds, I would hate if the ISU went ahead with the event and something had happened...

Back to Aliona, saw another photo of her with a young skater, presumably from training today. I hope everything is going well!
