Haven't read the whole thread so this may have already been suggested but imo the ISU should allow Skate Canada to host Worlds in 2022 because frankly the French fed is a mess and they don't deserve it

ISU only follows the money. The best (most profitable/least loss incurring) bid (in their eyes) gets the event, but wether ISU really cares to look at all the small print or thoroughly evaluates every bid? Then there are these 'under the table' deals, perhaps good old dear Didier had a good hand to toss over some envelopes under the table?

Air Canada is not taking any calls for flights less than 48 hours away today. And their website is a nightmare - I've seen people on Twitter who tried to cancel are getting measly refunds and not the full amount they paid - they are supposed to be able to use the full amount towards another booking. I can't even get my reservation to load at the moment. I tried DMing them on Twitter, but I doubt I'll get a response.

On the plus side, evenko sent out their email about refunds, which I received.

I have to go through Expedia/TD... by now I have memorized my 13-digit reservation code, I got dropped off so many times. Mine were day tickets, so I don’t expect any emails soon from evenco. They were late in sending them with purchase...

About the only nice thing was seeing the outpouring of love to the skaters on the Insta.

They are divided in two group: younger (2009+) and older (b. 2007-08), starts with younger.
Three jumping passes, single and combo, best score counts. 'Bigger' names participating: Veronika Zhilina, Adelya Petrosyan, Elizaveta Berestovskaya.

I finally got through to Expedia, and their system is down, but not only that, Air Canada did not release the codes for credits to the future travel, as of this moment. They can only change reservations, or do a cancellation under original policy, which is non-refundable.

Thanks for the update. I'll wait until Monday to reach out to them again, hopefully the credit codes will in be in place by then. It seems they rushed to announce the policy without putting everything in place.

There are 1390 cases and 289 virus victims in US at the moment. Free testing and hospital isolation should have been introduced weeks ago already.

Let's say you don't have insurance, get severe flu symptoms: feel sick, high temperature, etc..
You don't have money for private medical visit, so you go to an emergency in nearest hospital and what happens there?

They are required by law to stabilize you if they accept Medicare (almost all hospitals do). Then they send you home with a thousands of dollars bill and prescriptions for medication you may or may not be able to afford. Then you declare bankruptcy.

I think it would have been best to go ahead and have it without an audience. Postponing it will create all kinds of problems for the skaters. Cancel; don't postpone.

I don’t know. Yesterday NCAA sports were on with no audience. Today they are all cancelled. It doesn’t bode well.

Yes, a bright spot ... but my understanding of what Marie-France said at the end of the Facebook Live is that an edited "montage" of Jordan Cowan's filming is what will be shared online (later, of course).

ETA: "Montage" is the exact word that MF used.​

As opposed to each program being published in entirety (or being streamed live).
I just do not want people to expect more than what Marie-France actually said [ETA: at approx. 39:30].

(And BTW, each IAM couple will be skating one program [of their choice].)

I think IAM in part wants to do something for fans, which is great.
But the plan for its dancers to perform full programs on Monday also in large part is intended as a celebration for the dancers themselves to enjoy.

There may be no skate canada either. Apparently ISU said there will only one event in canada or the us. So we get either no skate canada or no skate america

I'm very sorry to see the cancellation. I love skating competitions, and this must be a blow to the skaters.

On the bright side, there's only one program I really wanted to see skated again.

You have misunderstood what the ISU said.

They pick one or the other of the US or Canadian challenger events to have the pairs event. Both countries have a challenger, but only one includes pairs.

Something I would LOVE to see filmed and broadcast—the number that was to included in the opening ceremony, with Virtue/Moir, Browning, Rochette, etc., skating to music by Eric Radford. Now that would have been something to see.

italian skaters as far as i know, maybe they made it in time i don't know, but airports here are closing

The Division 1 diving zone qualifying meets and Division 2 swimming and diving meet were cancelled while the meets were underway. The D2 teams showed up at the pool for the finals session today only to be told they could not enter the pool area.
