2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

If the translation is right that doesn't sound like a good split? No wishing sasha well ? Or is there another apart still coming?

I agree. But what did we expect. She didn’t take it well last time someone left either. I think it’s a bit shady to suggest Sasha was bought but that’s just my opinion.

To judge by Eteri Georgiyevna's post, its more of the same like with Medvyedeva back in 2018.

An athlete demanding separate conditions, a special position, doesn't fit in with the collective spirit #TeamTutberidzeForProgress stands for.

There will be more departings of parents (skaters) who think that Khrustalniy's approach to the sport isn't good enough for their child. Is Mrs Zhilina is malcontent too, or just as ambitious as Mrs Kostyleva? When these parents are loud mouthed or secretive troublemakers, good riddance on Khrustalniy's part? New children will still come to the rink every start of season.

One cannot blame these parents if they really have the best interests of their children in mind. But promises make debts, and there is no way back.

#РаботаемДальше и ТолькоВПерёд, the only right way is forwards and we will follow it.

I just read in another part of the forum that zillhina also changed to plushenko can anyone confirm this?

I’m not sure I agree with what you’re suggesting here. I’m sure it doesn’t feel like a team effort for the skaters when they can’t seem to achieve the goals they set for themselves but their coaching team still shines in all its glory whilst actively supporting their competition. I mean that’s their job, but that environment is not for everyone and I certainly wouldn’t choose it for myself if it no longer served a larger purpose like getting quads.

It was a good spirited message, I don’t think anything bad happened. She just commented on the situation, I think her personal wish to Sasha might have happened already privately, or will be coming.

More like Sasha and her parents were not satisfied with the results. 3rd in all important competitions and usually quite far from her teammates. Not much of a rocket science really. And if Rozanov left before her, then it probably made the choice easier.

I agree, the post wasn’t that bad. It’s not like Eteri attacked Sasha or anything. I think that some people are over analyzing it. Could she have wished Sasha good luck? Yes, but maybe she already did that when Sasha told her she was changing coaches. Assuming that Eteri was told about this before it became public information. Based on the tone in her post, it seems like she was told.

Can someone provide a loose translation?

I can't copy it to paste into Google translate

“Of course it is impossible to get used to splits with your athletes. Because while working together we become a family, which is battling through obstacles that come our(their) way.
Good athletes and good coaches will always receive invitations and get offered more favorable conditions. The way on how to react on those offers is up to each and everyone. But our team is different in that we always try to raise our own athletes and coaches (edit: that’s my way of translating “specialist”). Of course we will never offer more favorable conditions, because then the trust between us will be lost. While working together, we give up part of our lives, and part of ourselves.”

Thank you so much for the translation!!!

Knowing past Eteri-Plushy exchanges and her competitive spirit, that's exactly what's troubling there. She sounds defeated. At least for now.

As much as I am sad, because I think this is a mistake on Sasha’s part, I’m really not worried for Eteri at this point. She’ll get over it, she’ll be fine, she had bad times, this isn’t the worst one for sure. Not to mention she won’t have a deficit of talented kids and coaches trying to work with her, she’ll be ok.
I’m only worried for Sasha, but I’m willing to trust her and give this partnership a chance. If Plushenko lets her down, he better be ready for all my *powerful*(sarcasm) internet anger! :D

Let's be real for Khrustalnii losing Rozanov is more important than losing Sasha.

But as a viewer i can't imagine Anna or Alena without Sasha next to them.

I feel like Eteri’s way of “getting back at people” is through results at competitions. Her team normally just takes the criticism and doesn’t respond to it. The drama with Eteri, TAT, and Plushenko last year was because Eteri had the results to back her team up and because her team needed to defend Alina. I don’t know if Eteri will want to say anything about this especially because all of the girls were friends with Sasha. She might not want to upset them. If I were Eteri, I know that I wouldn’t try to attack Plushenko right now because who knows, maybe Sasha will achieve good results under him and Rozanov.

From Nussknacker's translation, I got a different impression. Eteri seems to be saying that in her camp she can't play favorites or give one athlete special consideration over another. If other coaches can (becuase they do not have so many championship caliber students), well, that's just how it is.

I think if he fails her we can all but guarantee the end of his coaching career. It should be impossible to ruin this girl’s skating because of how strong of a jumper she is. She could, if skating clean, out score most male skaters. I don’t agree with those scores but the judges have already set that bar high and he would have to really mess it up to ruin her skating career. I hope he realises how much he has riding on this in terms of his own reputation.

I think they can do without Rozanov. Although he did well with novices, they have a very nice woman who’s working with the little babies (4 year old), who are just learning to skate, I think she can rise to a challenge. There will be other coaches who would want to try working with Tutberidze too.

But Sasha! The dragon quad queen, our precious quadzilla, seems like a big loss for them from my point of view!

He better! Hehe! :) I’m sure he doesn’t have any illusions and understands that taking on Sasha is a big responsibility, which I hope will fuel his motivation to do well with her even more.
