2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I have a feeling Eteri will replace Sasha by trying to bring Kseniia Sinitsyna to Sambo 70. Therke were rumors throughout the season that Eteri wanted Sinitsyna to skate with them and now there’s an opening. Sinitsyna will be old enough to compete senior next year.

Ksenia replacing Sasha 😂😂😂

Ksenia replacing Sasha 😂😂😂

Based on what we’ve seen today, anything’s possible lol. I don’t think she’ll ever have Sasha’s jumping ability (very few ladies will), but she has really good skating skills and could be like a Kostornaia/Usacheva type skater at their camp.

Alina and her coach/choreographer are very close. According to articles Anna and choreographer are very close.

I have had for at least a season an inner voice telling me that when Anna turns 18, she will announce a newfound relationship with Daniil.

I agree, they overhyped her when she was a junior and then packaged her poorly and didn’t hype her up for the seniors. And I think that she wants to get more attention and focus from a coach that wants to see her do really well in competition. She doesn’t want to just be used as a part of one coach’s “sweep” of the podium: she wants to be on top of the podium! It’s a bold move, but it’s understandable given the circumstances surrounding the change.

Oh, how many people suddenly found their sorrow over "badly treated Sasha". I'm not taking that.

Fist, the hype was general. Firast lady to do this quad? First lady to do multiple quads? First lady to do a quad in combo? Tell me how not to be hyped over it without any effort of the coachig team. All this crying about "to get more attention and focus from a coach that wants to see her do really well in competition", as if Eteri somehow overyped her and then changed her mind and didn't want to see her do well.

How it should be exactly done? paying more attention to Sasha - how does Eteri dare not to pay attention to Aliona (and that we've read such comments before she learned 3A). Paying more attention to Aliona - and what about Anna? You can always blame a coach paying not enough attention to a certain skater, esp. when all of the skaters are stars. But you can't pay more attention to all skaters, becuase you can pay the same attention to all of them at best.

I've never seen Eteri pointing to financial stuff, it's really telling sentence in my opinion.

Doesn't she take a whopping cut of her skaters' earnings? (I'm not saying she didn't earn it, just that she took it) She had in Evgenia, Alina and Alexandra three of the biggest earners in the sport, has lost two of them now. It's easy to loftily sniff at what you take for granted....

Her statement does run true to form, but at least there's not the bile from two years ago. (Yet.)

It’s not me feeling sorry for her, and I know she was always given hype, but she may not have thought so herself. Perception is key. Sasha’s results were obviously not what she wanted, and she believed it was because she wasn’t paid attention to by Eteri compared to the other skaters. This is why she left, whether it was her decision or her parents’. Whether her being neglected is true or not is between the members of Sambo 70 to decide.

Especially coming from the same people that labeled her "a robot", "jumping bean bag", etc, etc - that's really funny

The claim TeamTut didn't pay enough attention to Sasha is ridiculous. Yeah, while not paying enough attention, they somehow managed to teach her 4 quads and 3A, and improved choreo skills too. :palmf:

I think it’s funny that you think they worked on her choreo skills 😂. Also, this isn’t about people liking Sasha or not as a skater - it’s about how she personally felt and why she decided to leave. If people want to respect her decision, they should without being attacked. :)

This is correct to me. There generally was consensus on this thread and the competition threads that Sasha was having trouble complicating the program with maximum quads, that the 4S was suddenly becoming a trouble jump, and that the 3A did not yet have consistency but maybe was on its way. The decisions that the team made seemed fair - take out some of the quads to get consistency back and keep trying the 3A. It seemed to be a reasonable compromise between Sasha's ambition and trying to secure the podium. She debuted one of the most beautiful 4Fs I've ever seen. The Game of Thrones program had more artistic merit than many give it credit for.

Even if there was disagreement between Sasha and her family and Eteri, there's really no villain or victim in this story from my view.

I don’t know if Sasha’s objectively the victim, however, she may have thought of herself as the victim. Who knows? We never will. I disagree with the statement as far as people throwing their sorrow towards her. I think that people can respect her decision to leave because she felt neglected in a situation that was difficult to change unless someone left the group.

Maybe next time you will read rumours that I'm leaving Eteri

I'm sorry, I'm going to need you to come up with a better official source for this one. I refuse to believe it until I hear it from Eteri herself.

Until then, it's all complete speculation on your part!

I think it’s funny that you think they worked on her choreo skills .

It just means you haven't seen her last Ex.

The people I was talking about don't care a fig about Sasha, and never had; but any "win" against TeamTut is a reason for a happy dance for them :)

You are definitely not a victim here.

One thing is respecting a decision (even with expressing doubts about precisely Plushenko). The other thing is that adding personal judgements shouldn't be hide behind "if you don't agree with me, you don't respect Sasha's decision".

Finley, haven't you heard? Their Zamboni has also left the Khrustalniy rink and joined Plyushenko.

Maybe I should post some pictures from a park then

Where does information about her supposed „whopping“ cut come from?
she takes the same rate as everyone else, 30%. And those percents from all the prize money aren’t really a substantial amount, when divided in between 3 main coaches, it gets to 1000$/month for each of them. thats the amount calculated last year at least. Barely a good motivation to make champions.
If she was in it for the money(that’s how I understood your „whopping“ comment), she would’ve established herself a private school, like the one Plushenko has, long time ago, there she could charge per hour and earn a lot more. Or work in shows.
Daniil said long time ago, that he had to let go off his comfortable lifestyle and earnings from shows to be a coach.
she has built her success from the very bottom, and I just hate that the rare success story like hers gets littered with these things on whether or not she’s in it for the money. If money’s her main motivation, she sure is using the most hard and difficult way to earn a lot less than she could.
