Easy.
Sasha had the best FP and 3rd-4th SP for 2020. She proved she can do both.
She openly forced the preparations for WC to be in the optimal form and for the last few years she was in her best form close to March.

Cancelled WC for everyone.
Lost WC for Sasha.

How do we know she wpuld skate two clean programs... when she did not pull it off for whatever reason for a long time?

There's another reason to worry - in her last interview from Kislovodsk Sasha said that she still doesn't know who'll be coaching her on a daily basis.

Do you think this?

"- With whom will you work on a daily basis?

- Decisions will be made by Evgeny Viktorovich. I don’t know for sure yet. There will be different specialists."

I believed this is about the different specialists only...:scratch2:

I don't worry about the daily basis...I'm worried about the specialists. How can they go to Kislovodsk? Online lessons?

Given that she had only 1 clean FS all of last season, and was steadily getting messier in competitions as the season went on, saying that she 'lost' the World championships is putting too much stock in practices while ignoring competition performances - if medals were given for what is done in practice the history books would look a lot different. Could Trusova have pulled out a clean 4-5 quad program at Worlds and won, absolutely there was a chance she would have done it, but to speak with so much certainty as if it was a done deal that she was going to win is to ignore the facts of her competition results this past season.

Alina's result on covid test came negative and she can start training in Novogorsk from tomorrow.

Can you remind me where she had a clean FS last season? Every memory I have of her FS in competition this past season is at least one fall

Excluding slight negative GOE on the 4T-Eu-3S (backloaded) and a UR on the 3Lz-3Lo (backloaded, only slight negative GOE), she was clean at JO, scoring 160.53 in the FS.

Excluding a doubled loop with slight negative GOE, she was clean at the Nepela Trophy, scoring 163.78 in the FS. At neither of these competitions did she fall :)

My predictions for the Russian Ladies next season.

Two words.

Anna Shcherbakova

It will be her season.

Ah, true. I didn't have them on my radar cause JO is more like an exhibition to me and Nepela since it's such a small thing I forgot about it.
If I remeber correctly Alina was also clean at JO and the test skates correct?
I wonder what made these two start out the season so strongly and then as soon as the real competitions arrived they went downhill. Supports the theory that it's mental maybe

Oh - I forgot about Nepela Trophy, going to need to look up that competition on Youtube. Okay so she had 2 clean (no falls) FS's this season. My original point holds, she got messier as the season went on, so somehow being incredibly confident that it was a sure thing that she was going to win Worlds doesn't hold up to logic when you look at the results of the season.

Its not like last season was all that 'bad' for her...she won her 2 GP events, her challenger, Nationals, and placed 2 at the other 2 competitions she was at (won the FS for both).

Predictions are difficult. Especially if they concern the future. ;)

yeah, a few of the predictions about Shcherbakova last season (that I remember):
- she would be the 'weak link' of Kostornaia/Shcherbakova/Trusova
- that Zagitova or Medvedeva would still be sent to Europeans/Worlds over her even if she finished in third place ahead of them at Nationals
- that she would possibly even be sent down to Junior Worlds this past season

True. She really proved herself last season.
And still, no one seems to think she would have won Worlds if it had not been cancelled - except for me that is :luv17: (and perhaps Spirals for Miles?)

People have always been saying she is "the middle one" - less artistic than Alyona but more than Sasha and less technical than Sasha but more than Alyona.
The phrase is right, but it should refer to the podium position.

Was it obvious?

To me, her increased consistency with quads and well-deserved PCS increases (albeit slight) put her in serious contention for the world title. There's no way of knowing, but I think it could've been hers.
