I like. :) Very good choice of music for her. She attempted triple lutz/triple loop and I think she also attempted triple flip/triple toe. She won with huge marks about 13 points higher over second place. Also, I noticed a significant improvement in her speed. She definitely has the competitive spirit where she gets the job done. Although she made a few slip ups here and there, overall, it was a much improved program.

Her score was 91...not sure I'd define that as "huge". But for a summer event, very good. And good for Mira if she's improved as you say she has.

Any link to protocols? Any video? Did she complete 3+3?

Even more important than the competition or the music, did Mira actually land her triples without cheating the landings? That would be a huge step in the right direction for her, IMO!

I'm glad Mira's new LP seems to suit her and that she's improved her speed, at least. Thanks, passion!

...and the music is...? ;)

Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.2. I believe it opens with the big heavy music coming from movement 1 and then it changes to the pretty, lyrical movement 2 (Fumie Sugurie's and LuChen's), and then I believe it changes to big and heavy music from movement 3 (although don't quote me on this last change). But I'm pretty sure about the first two parts. Anyhow, I think it's a winning music and it's realistically within Mira's range to fit the music stylistically if you know what I mean. The music ichoice is so important much like Canadian idol. If it's chosen wrong from the beginning it can really limit the skater.

Well, huge considering there were scores as low as 50 or 60. I know Mira is not perfect and she's no Mao Asada or Yu Na Kim for that matter, but she is actually head and shoulders above the average senior skater in Canada. It's very clear when you watch her live in competition.

no, her triple triple is not clean at all. She has a good 1/2 turn cheat on it

Yes. I agree. She still needs to work on them, but to my limited eyes it seemed like all the regular triples that she did were fully rotated. She continues to have problems with her double axel. That jump seems to really be her nemesis. Overall, though, it was an excellent program. Oh, and her appearance is much better as well in terms of dress and hair style. I think Joanne McCleod is doing a very good job with Mira.

Results are posted.

Can you provide the link to the results?

Mira has a great 2A, I'm not sure why you think it's her nemesis. Maybe because she's practice 3A and that throws her timing off?

lol. If I were computer savy I would provide the link. Sorry. I can't. Maybe look up BC Summer Skate.

Well, I've noticed that her double axel in the past has been very slanted in the air due to improper take off and the landing is very scary. I know that she has had problems with that jump in competitions in the past. It has definitely been underrotated. In this competition she had a step out of it on the landing. I am not aware that she is attempting triple axel. Does anyone know if she is working on triple axel?

Thanks for the extra details, everyone! I'm glad to hear at least Mira's regular triples are fully rotated, since I definitely think she needs to work on that before attempting triple-triples and 3-axels.

Now I'm curious as to whether Mira's using the same Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.2. cuts as Sasha Cohen did in 2002/03...
