What is your point? I think if it isn’t common then this suggests that many skaters would have an issue training with close competitors, not certain skaters that have “ego problems”. Why is it an issue that skaters don’t want this? I think they’re free to make up their own mind about where they spend their time and money and unless we have been in the situation we have no right to judge how they feel about it. Maybe they tried but simply could not overcome the distraction and it affected their training. It doesn’t always mean an ego problem.

Elite athletes usually have pushy parents that help them reach that level and I said "likely". The ego problem is based on Eteri instagram post on Alena list of girls she doesnt want to train with. And Plushenko poking is from Eteri posts last Christmas about Plushenko and his contact with Alina. So no I did not "just make stuff up" like you're accusing me of.

That's above and beside the point - you laid all the blame on Kostornaya and her family and their 'ego'. Simple fact is, if a system keeps producing the same results, for both good and ill, it's probably the system.

I have serious doubt on the timeline given by Eteri. If it is true that Alena made her mind in May, then why she waited for more than two months to finalize the transfer? By waiting it out, she missed the training time with the new group, also wasted her time on two programs that are very unlikely to get used. It doesn't make sense. I tend to believe what Plushy said of being contacted two weeks ago. It agrees with what Daniil's revealed in his video that Alena trained normally until half month ago and that's when her behaviors became strange. My feeling is that things didn't progress well on the technical side as Alena said in the interview that she hadn't got her 3Axel back. That alone could be the main motivation to switch coaching team to join her old coach Rozanov. At least this makes much better sense than Alena planning the whole transfer far in advance and keeping it a secret for two months which apparently didn't benefit her at all.

My (totally uneducated) guess about the timeline:

Alena had thoughts of following Hot Sergei in May but there were too many unknowns and she opted to stay put.
Training began and she had a difficult time getting the triple axel back, this is when she decided to go to Plushenko’s team and contacted him (2 weeks ago)
When Alena told Eteri and Daniil her decision they did say they tried to talk her out of it. At this point she said “I decided in May” to make them realize she was serious about switching.

Team Eteri took the two stories and twisted them to make Alena look as worse as possible. I highly doubt Alena would spend 2 months in Eteris group knowing she is leaving. She does not seem like one to waste her or anyone else’s time. This is why I think she had thoughts of a change months ago but did not fully make the decision until very recently.

As for as revealing the information publicly, if she doesn't say anything then the shock of the change will be more severe and the gap in information will likely be filled in with even greater more damaging conjectures with Eteri being blamed for much of it. I don't understand how saying a skater making special demands regarding a number of different skaters on the team is abuse.

Because what eteri writes has to be the total and absolute truth. when its known she will smear her ex students name everytime someone dares to leave her . We actually dont even know if she is telling the truth or not eteri isnt beeing blamed for alyona leaving she is blamed for her sickening behaviour of smearing the names and dragging the names of ex skater repeatedly throigh the mud. And still drags ex skater who left her years ago, one who actually is now a happy mother. How low can an adult woman get? She is the adult here! And she acts like a toddler throwing a tantrum because its toys got taken away. Thats how she acts and not like the mature adult she is supposed to be . She is beeing blamed for literally opening bonfire season on the skaters who lesve her because she knows exactly how her fans will react. She knows that an underaged child/teenager is getting hate over hate because she has the pathetic need to smear their name in public. It is sickening beyond belief actually. She could have just said it was a shock that she didnt know about it and that alyina leaves the team there was no reason what soever to smear her name, and to drag 2 other skaters into it once again.

Because she isn’t just saying it was one student who was a diva demanding special privileges, she has literally said this about every high profile athlete that has left AND her most successful athlete who has remained loyal to her. At some point, it’s just illogical that all these divas were on ice at the same time, several had success at different levels over periods of years, and no one ever noticed or commented about the 4-5 difficult divas all training together.

That is exactly what bothers me about the whole report. Obviously a coach can't play favorites, etc., etc. It just seems impossible to imagine that Aliona or any skater would make such a demand.

(if a teenager did lash out like that, all the coach has to say is, "I have to treat everyone fairly." The end. The skater either goes or stays. There is no reason to involve Instagram, Twitter or the Russian equivalent of the National Enquirer -- or Golden Skate. )

Given that she claims the same extremely singular act is has by oh so strange a coincidence happened with every top-level girl who has - oh so coincidentally and by their words for different reasons - left her since 2014, forgive me for doubting that what she claims is objectively 'true'.

I always find when I watch Plushenko it is less about his artistry and more about his sheer charisma. He just has that "look at me" quality that is unteachable. I really wish he could help someone like Samarin who has beautiful jumps but little on ice performance quality. Evgeni was nearly always "on" in a way that hard to quantify. Natural performer maybe?

Do you mean something like Aliona looking like a 20 years old stunner 20 cm higher than she is while skating in a bubble of magic pushed by som emystic wind, filling the whole rink with her simple presence and charisma?
Or being able to sell Twilight to a group of judges that probably consider it stupid kid books?

If what Eteri said was true I won't criticize her for taking a stand that she cannot/will not accommodate these requests from skaters about who they will and will not share the ice with; I will however say that airing the dirty laundry in detail is unneeded.

But since nobody knee about the change before her post she wasnt taking a stand. It would have been enough for her to write that she is shocked and she could have even wrote betrayed cause she didnt k ow that aljona wanted to leave for that long (which is also questionable if eteri is telling the truth with may) and that the cool between them is over end of statement. I could even understand if she had nit wished her luck. The thing neither alyonanor her family have released a statement were they said soemthing agaisnt eteri so eteri had jo reason to write such a post. Besides she is the adult and she knows exactly how her fans will react she knows that they will throw hate against the student who leaves her and she is basically giving the green light for them to do what they want , she knows that an underaged teenage girl will get hate thrown at her . And she seems ok with it or she would uave never released such a statement

Eteri just needs to class up her act. Her need to gut punch her students at sensitive points is just a horrid look.

The problem with Eteri might be that she treats all her students the same. But the students aren't the same. Brian understood that Javi needed different things than Yuzuru. Maybe time for Eteri and her team to understand that their students will need different things with time, and sometimes, it's good to accommodate them a little. If all they hear is no, it's no wonder they leave.

Eteri needs to realize that the methods used on a 9 yr old don't work on a 16 yr old, people mature and evolve.

The one thing that occurs to me is that Team Tutberidze will now have to be veeeeeery careful not to alienate little Shcherbakova, who it seems woke up this morning to find herself (at least while Alina is taking her time out) queen bee all on her own, at least till the next lot of juniors moves up. Even though, as far as I can see, she is the only one of Tutberidze's last five superstars with no major international gold, senior or junior. Who - 2 years ago - woulda thunk it?

And god help the world's supply of popcorn if Zagitova does choose to retire than than return.
