Yes, something sudden has happened. The whole thing is strange with Alëna training her new program and then suddenly she stopped. We know now it was only two weeks ago the shift happened. Strangely, it is just after Alëna got the award at that ISU ceremony. Anyway, it sounds a bit spontaneous and a bit heat-of-the-moment-thing to me. Could it be that maybe Sasha pulled her over? Sasha might have praised her new environments and saying it is pure heaven without "dictatorship" like they were used to with Eteri. We know teenagers, they loooove freedom. And especially these girls that have been superstars since they were 12 yo.

I have same thoughts. Maybe Alyona was thoughtless and decided suddenly..That would be very sad.

And another question. Would Plushenko have formulated his comment on choosing the best newcomer as he did if he knew Alyona was joining him?

This is not a good argument, right? ;) You can't defend that fact. Totally illogic no one would do that.

Daniil said he found out it on july 18th from Aliona and that's the only precise date we know. Everything else is what people add to it according to how they "read" that (=wishful thinking).

According to his reaction to skating awards he considers Sasha the best newcommer. Whatever I may think of him I don't think he was lying in this in the sense he truly considered Sasha the best newcomer.

So when is Anna moving to Pluschenko? This has become ridiculous.

Probably int the shortest term possible.

And wouldn't it be ridiculous if we once again got 3A training together, just with a different coach? I don't really think it will happen, but I didn't believe Aliona would leave Tutberidze this season either.

Exactly what I was thinking. This whole "Aliona decided in May already and didn't tell us until 2 weeks ago" narrative isn't adding up. She probably was considering the switch to Plushenko around then but decided to stick it out and then decided she couldn't take whatever was bothering her anymore. And what is wrong with that, how would that be a "betrayal"? I just see manipulation against a teenager by immature Eteri.

This offseason is so wild. At least the drama doesn't revolve around my favourites for once. But Anna would still be my favourite even if she were the only one to go to Plushenko .

Evgenia/Alina must be glad the drama is off them for once, and hopefully Anna can get some quiet time to focus.

It is strange that Plushenko took Alena as it did seem like Sasha wanted a coach who would have her as their #1 priority. That also seemed to be the biggest point of support for Sasha moving. But now Alena joins her in the rink once again, which will be interesting!

Very true point about the lack of attention. I think it’s more fair to say that Alina may not be as frustrated and could gain some confidence because she would no longer be watching and training beside two skaters that out performed her all last season...

I think this has never been an issue for Alina. She's been on all sides of the "pecking order". When she first arrived, she was a very weak skater for that team's standards, left in the very big shadows casted by Evgenia and Yulia. She certainly wasn't the "favourite" then, if there was one. She was also the first known skater to be kicked out of the group. Then she rose to the very top and was there for 2 seasons as Olympic and World champion. The following season, she was overtaken by newer skaters.

Alina has been on all sides of being the worst, best, and in the middle, and she's trained with many skaters on all sides for many seasons. She's also been there when Yulia and Evgenia left the group, and when Sasha and Alena first came and subsequently learned their quads and 3As. For the same reasons, I don't think any other skaters leaving or entering the group will have any weight on her confidence, drive, and decision as to whether she comes back to competition or retires. It's never affected her before; she doesn't seem to let others' actions affect her, and she shouldn't. Maybe that's what contributes to her mental strength.

Anna is kind of in the same boat; she's been there for longer than Alina. Hopefully they can keep the focus on themselves and are less concerned about other skaters as that's completely out of their control.

No. Eteri said the agreement was reached in May.....or something like this.

But I agree everyone just guessing here. I don't think Alyona can be silent for a long time..

Things can't go any better for Anna. Everyone in the team will love her even more, she will have to share the coaches' attention less and thanks to Kamila, training incentive is still there, even if she is not a direct competitor.

Anna and Kamila seem to get along really well, and they're both such serious students of their craft. (Less stubborn or volatile than Sasha or Alena, for sure.)

I think the two of them motivating each other - along with the increased attention they're now going to get from the coaching team - is going to be great for them, and thus bodes well for their Olympic chances.

Whenever the agreement was made, the thing is when TT was aware of it. Daniil said that on the may 18th when Aliona announced she's leaving, that when he asked when she decided to leave and she replied two months ago. But it's different to decide and to announce the decision.

Nobody of all people involved didn't say "Eteri (or we) knew that two months ago."
