I'm hoping in the next year EG can certainly hold on to Anna and KV because someone's going to be coming for them and their parents offering them things EG can probably not equal in promises. I think it's pretty obvious Alina will stay with TT through the end of her competitive career.

Zagitova admitted to the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy & Public Administration (RANEPA). Her specialization, bachelor will be on Journalism under the Institute/Department of "Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service". Her studies will be full time.
Arbitrary's comment has to do probably with the fact that since now she will be a student, she will not compete. Personally I consider those two independent as many athletes examples can show us.

It sounds like it's not one of those easy Russian University degrees for athletes. We will have to wait to learn more. I hope I Alina continues to skate competitively for as long as she feels up to it.

I'm glad she knows what she wants to go into post skating! I think being a journalist real suits her for some reason. I wonder if she'll balance this with skating, like Nathan Chen attending Yale or if she'll decide to focus more on her studies. I wish her the best of luck with whatever she decides to do:yay:

Despite the fact her talent and success gives her every right to be an egomaniac, Beyonce is incredibly humble. People who assume she's an egomaniac either take her stage persona as her actual personality--when she's quite the opposite--or they just don't like her. I had the privilege to meet her about two years ago and I was blown away by how incredibly kind and gracious she was in person.

Nah, Britney was never referred to as Queen B--she was always just Britney...but she was Britney. For those who are too young to know, Britney was EVERYTHING in the early 2000s.
I feel like the term "queen bee" is a negative term when it's used generically in reference to a girl. It doesn't have to be but it often is because the popularity hierarchy of females has always been an issue. Girls are always taught to be in competition with each other but it's never in a good way. It sucks because girls are much more powerful when they work together. Obviously there's only so much working together girls can do when it comes to skating as it's an individual sport, but I will say that the competition within Eteri's ranks is as much an asset as it is a problem. It's good because they all push each other to be better; but it's bad because there are times when one skater's ability outshines another so much that the skater with limitations may feel overlooked or not as important.
As for Alina, the announcement that she's going to journalism school seems like it may be the end of her competitive career. In all honesty I didn't expect to see her comeback after her break. Maybe the pandemic caused her to reassess what she wants as far as skating goes and she made a decision to move forward with the next step in her life. Clearly she's very loved in Russia so I think a commentating job would be good for her. I don't listen to her speak much (I don't understand Russian) so I don't know how engaging or witty or eloquent she is when she speaks, but I'd imagine public or extemporaneous speaking would be part of her education. It's a common path a lot of athletes try to take but very few are successful with it. The fact she's going to school to study and learn how to be a reporter/commentator means she's taking it seriously and will likely give her a better chance at success.

I just mean she's one of the few who have decided to study journalism. The assumption is she'd be looking to step into reporting or commentating for skating when she graduates--then again that's just an assumption. Maybe she wants to report on world events or something like that. I have no clue. I just found it interesting that's what she's choosing to study. My BA degree is in journalism which is why I found this so interesting. I completely regret my degree and wish I'd spent 4 years studying something else lol
--but at least I have a minor in marketing. Of course, Alina has opportunities to get a job at a news station, publication or broadcasting team once she graduates which would make the field a much better fit for her. I just wanted to write for magazines and online publications. That did not happen for me and I eventually found my way into real estate and property management. If only I'd focused on that from the beginning...well, hindsight is 20/20 as they say.Back on topic, I think it's a great next step for her.:thumbsup:

It is interesting what Alina chose to study at University. It's a shock to all of us!

I think she will compete again but the reality is that Alina probably doesn’t even know for sure at this point.
It's looking less and less like she really wants to compete again; if she did there wouldn't be this "decision" coming after Test skates of will she or won't she do the Russian cup events. If she doesn't do the Russian cup events my understanding is that she won't qualify to compete at Nationals, unless the Fed were to play favorites and give her a bye into competing at Nationals. And without any Russian cup event results or National results she would be unlikely to be selected for any Europeans or Worlds team, so failing to compete at the Russian cup events could equal no season whatsoever given the uncertainty of there being many international competitions with the pandemic.
