LOOK! Mirai Nagasu new long program

Flatt is a very good skater, but I think Nagasu is better. Mirai's jumps are better, higher and more secure and has better speed and basic skating skills. And Mirai's spins and spirals are fabulous. Besides, performance wise, I think Mirai has an edge over Flatt.

However, Flatt has a triple-triple, so all in all it should be a good competition. :agree:

flatt's triple triple's didn't do much for her last year. She lacks marai's flexiblity and style. Marai's jumps are also better, solid as rock with beautiful flow and height. She should really try a triple triple or a triple axel this year. she deffinelty has the tecquince for it!:bow:

Agreed - I think she has the potential to land triple-triples. Her jumps are wonderful.

WOW, is she skyrocketing to the top of my list of favorites. She does remind me of my favorite w/more flexablity.

AND what a wonderful personality she has.

She improved a lot over the summer! I was expecting more of what we saw last season, but I'm pleasantly surprised. I just wish she would get a little more tension in her moves.

I can not agree you more.

Mirai’s new LP of “Coppélia” is so adorable and fun to watch, especially pantomime-like doll performance. I love Lori’s choreography when she uses the ballet composition. I don’t know if Mirai has asked Lori specifically for ballet music, but certainly she did good job. I heard she regularly take ballet lessons, I wonder if she is an advanced level of ballet dancer.

BTW, her new SP is also good, but seems like a very tough program for a junior lady. It is a bit sad that she must use a same music with Emily Hughes, the senior veteran lady. The judges as well as audiences may keep an “eagle eye”, comparing with the performance of the two talented ladies. Wishing there are any checking system for skaters to avoid use the same music since it is kind of embarrassing.

Someone on another board who knows both Caroline and Mirai says that Mirai is now landing triple flips triple toes in practice.

didn't marai use this music for her SP last year? actually Emily is the one playing copy cat. I do not think this is the best choice for Marai. Athough it shows her youth and joy of skating, she could easily pull of somthing more mature and somthing that shows her extensions more.

Many of Nagasu's triples were downgraded in her LP at LA Open this summer. I don't think I would call them 'solid as a rock' quite yet.;)

True, but it may be something of an early competition thing for Mirai. Becuase last year at sectionals, Mirai had some jumps downgraded. By nationals, only one was downgraded, and at Junior Worlds none were downgraded. It could easily be just Mirai getting use to her program, and her being thus, a bit "off." After all, she only had one jump downgrade this time and it was at the end of her program.

She's obviously a very good prospect, but still looks a bit juniorish to me.

If all the juniors had this grace and musicality I wouldn't mind watching junior events. There is nothing "cute" about her skating except for the choeregraphed pause in the middle. If you ask me it's kimmie who skates like a junior.

well same kind of thing. I think she should have gone with somthing diffrent this year. Jazzy music is cute, but she is capable of somthing better.

She and Emily are lucky that Katarina Witt is more known for her 88 win than her 84 win--since Katarina's FS was this very same music that both women are using this year for the SP.

Take a close look at some of the triple jump landings... definitely under-rotated on a few jumps.

I love Mirai's skating and her new program. Her jumps are terrific, her spiral and overall flexibility are beautiful to behold, and she can really interpret the music. With the apparent departure of Sasha Cohen from the eligible ranks, it's nice to know that both Mirai Nagasu and Caroline Zhang are there to make U.S. ladies' figure skating interesting to watch again.

I LOVE Sasha. Shes by far my favorite, but I must say Alissa Czisny, when everythings going the right way, is very much so like Miss Cohen. Alissa = my current favorite senior skater, above all.
