I don't think Aliona has really grown over the off-season... Here's a photo from yesterday:

I think she may be done growing taller and will always be pretty short--which may be inconvenient for her as a person, but good for skating! :agree:
But, otherwise, Fluture, I totally agree with you. I do expect this season to be a struggle for her, given the long time spent off the ice as well as the abrupt coaching change. And in general, Aliona has always seemed to be prone to minor injuries after breaks off the ice (remember when her knees were taped for the SP at the test skates last year?).
I think it's very good for Aliona that she's assigned to the last Russian Cup events--that means she has plenty of time to get into competitive shape.
But I also wonder if Aliona will end up missing the test skates, perhaps by claiming to be injured... As much as I am dying to see her back on the ice, I feel like she should wait until she is 100% ready to compete. If she goes out next weekend and is anything less than perfect, then the critics will surely tear her apart.
Since she already has her Russia Cup assignments, I'm not sure if it'll really matter if she misses the test skates. Perhaps that would mean that she'd miss the GP event in Russia, but again, I'm not really sure that will matter in the grand scheme of things..
Of course, if she is ready to go, then great! Can't wait to see her!
I'm just tired of seeing the barrage of spiteful comments...
On a slightly unrelated note, Alexei Erokhov's new coach pointed out that he switched coaches outside of the transfer window as well. So he is still officially representing Sambo-70 as well. But no one made a fuss when he switched... SIGH!
