The mods do the best they can. We have been overwhelmed by the ill will that poisons the Russian Ladies' thread. It is impossible to keep up with all the posts that are in violation of the Golden Skate posting rules. :(
We have been overwhelmed b

O tempora o mores.

It’s so unpleasant indeed. It seems to me that toxicity seeps imperceptibly out here from the worst Russian sites, filled with rabid hatred. It's a shame this is happening

O tempora o mores.

I nominate you to be a mod man. :) by all means help them out. I'm being tres serioux (very serious). When things are out of hand when people like Edwin and orlov and moriel and both Sam's among others don't post here anymore we know something's rotten in Denmark. Are other threads as occasionally hostile as this one? This is a really good thread most of the time. We need competition badly but then some are hard on jr Moscow competitors ehen they are all out of top form. We need patience it will take time for these super talented juniors and seniors to get in good form.

Really? Not a bad idea.

Let us restart then. My favorite is Aliona Kostornaia. I loved her even before she became a top talent last season, she is not as “musical” as Anna but still knows exactly how to connect with the music, and is an exceptional performer. Her and Plushenko I could see working very well together— stubborn and somewhat loud personalities. So I of course wish her the best with Plush, and was very shocked when she left Eteri, whom she’d given such praise.

I adore Kamila. She is my favorite in the juniors field. She is a ballerina on ice. But I want to see her jump technique improved so she doesn’t get injured so often, and to see her do something more exciting on ice! Her programs are lovely, but I hope to see something different this season.

Liza seems to be the underdog right now. If she can really get technical content she plans and improves her performance skills, or at least looks like she’s putting effort into it, then she may surprise everyone and kick out one of the young prodigies from the world’s team.

Sasha is an incredible jumper and even looking at videos of her from AP I think she may actually be able to get five quads. She doesn’t look like she missed a beat, though I would understand totally if she did. But it is no secret that her spins and skating skills need work, and I think Romeo and Juliette may be a perfect choice for her this season even if it’s redundant because it has some softness to it despite that there are those powerful Sasha moments we expect. That may depend on choreography but I won’t pass judgement until we see the programs at least a few times.

Anna’s Firebird is going to be difficult to top this season. I’m curious to see what TT has planned for her and also if no longer having Sasha and Anna to compete with at practice will hurt her. She’s said in the past that even though she doesn’t like being part of the 3A, she does derive a lot of strength from seeing her teammates perform, because “it makes it seem as though things are not impossible” and that she “can do them as well”. I’m assuming that Kamila, Daria, Maia, etc will have replaced that for her? Always a joy to watch.

Daria and Maia intrigue me. Maia seems to really sell her new SP but I’m not so sure about the FS. But it does give me positive hints in the future because I was thinking she may have difficulty selling programs. Both of them seemed unstable at test skates but I’m not going to fault them there. How can I? Daría still has one of the best 2A’s and if she gets a 3A, dare I say, it may be better than Aliona’s.

Sofia and Veronika have been discussed about much in this thread recently so I won’t rehash, but Sofia has better artistry and Veronika has better jumps. Sofia also has some age on Veronika and artistry can evolve very quickly so I don’t know if it’s proper to compare them super heavily at this point even if they compete in the same category.

Other notable skaters— I think we’re going to be surprised by Titova and Samodelkina. I was really impressed by Samodelkina at the test skates. I also loved Osokina, and I look forward to seeing her compete against the rest of the juniors field because I think she’s really really underrated. Give her to Eteri tonight and tomorrow she would make a podium.

I am anxious to see Alina because it seems she has so much going on. I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t even appear at test skates even though she was named to the national team.

Zhenya’s music choices are really good, and suit her well, I think the programs will be nice. Technical content will likely again be her strain, so of the non-3A girls I am anticipating her test skate the most.

Change of subject

So the Russian Cup Stages will be very exciting this year. Which 18 ladies will get through to Russian Nationals??

Frolova, Gracheva, Gubanova, Gulyakova, Kolomiets, Konstantinova, Kostornaia, Khromykh, Leonova, Medvedeva, Nugumanova, Sakhanovich, Samodurova, Shcherbakova, Shulskaya, Sidorova, Sinitsyna, Talalaykina, Tarakanova, Trusova, Tsibinova, Tuktamysheva, Usacheva, Valieva, Zagitova

Have I forgotten anyone? There might be some former junior that moves up to senior that I missed.

Anyway, that is 25 names I have listed. Which seven will miss out on RusNats??

I was rewatching her performances from last season, and I gotta say, Buyanova really cleaned up her short program... like a lot.
It’s not as evident if watching in vacuum, but when you compare before and after it’s miles better. Her moves are more finished, she does the accents when needed, doesn’t rush through the program, controls her speed. There’s a lot of work that was done. Buyanova might not be my favorite coach, but she did really well with Liza, imo.

Also, I think her hair color helps her for some reason. She’s so ginger and she stands out, it also really fits her SP theme. I can immediately imagine her as the 20s lady.

Overall, despite having the same SP it’s a better looking program now. If she keeps the consistency, this just might be her breakout season.

No. This one is the undisputed champ.

Being fair, this thread is like 80% of the forum... so, the more folk you have, the more crazy it would get.

I guess those who are not established enough. Who are Gracheva, Kolomiets, Sidorova, Tsibinova and Shulskaya? And Nugumanova and Talalaykina I know only by name.

Valeria Shulskaya placed 8th at senior nationals last year, Ksenia Tsibinova placed 11th, and Anastasia Gracheva placed 16th.

Is Leonova skating this year?and depending on test skates and what rusfed and alina will decide she may fall away (sadly because i was actually warming up to her last season because in my eyes she did grew artistically with last years programmchoices)

Well, Nugumanova is the UR queen so you would probably love her. Everything about Nugumanova is wonderful, except her protocols. Here is a reminder of her short program from last season that she sold so well.

This is one of the best posts of the entire year. I agree with much of what you wrote especially about Aliona. And it certainly does some things better than her though including musicality.

I will be most interested to see if Anna will thrive where's Sasha and Aliona elsewhere.

On the junior level it will be very interesting to see how Sofia and Veronika move forward in their careers going through growing pains and dealing with a pandemic that may never fully go away.

As for the ballerina on Ice Kamila
The sky's the limit she if she is what we think she is could bump Sasha Akiona or Anna off the Olympic team or the worlds team in the near future. Kamila is absolutely brilliant but will she get a growth spurt of 2 or 3 inches in a year?

Test skates for the seniors should be very interesting especially with KV there. But we should not be too critical of who does what and what if someone's music and programs because this is just the beginning for them. It's almost the middle of September by the time test skates arrive and no one is in top form and won't be for the foreseeable future. So it's skaters are off the game was struggling a little bit cut them some slack please.

No. This one is the undisputed champ.

Well then that's not a great thing to be the champ in. ;)

But once competition start hopefully we'll see some of the old regulars back in here because then the focus won't be so much on TT or PA drama but rather on the great athletes.

Available. When Hanyu and Dmitriev tried something what likely was a quaxel attempt they did more than 3.5 rotations in air...

Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk

The prerotation on axel isn't about doing less rotation, it's about initiating the rotation earlier allowing you to snap in quicker and reach maximum rotation speed quicker (or allowing you to reach it full stop in some cases).

Although for some it's certainly about doing less rotation in the air (Javi Fernandez).

Your devotion to PA is like Edwins for TT. I tried to give you a compliment of sorts.

Really? ;) You are kind Scott! :luv17: I'm devoted to AP but we aren't on same level with E. As I said I don't think the hate is the part of this sport. No one deserves what Plush received from E in May. And Trusova's parents for example...

I still cant believe how critical posters here are of these girls who did not compete for 6 months. No one can be in top form now. 2 months from now should be different.

I totally agree!

I hope Edwin comes back. He was the source of a lot of information that others do not supply.
You mean information like "The greedy Papa Trusov decided for Sasha to sacrifice her career in favor of gilded earnings." or "Trusova was lured to his academy by Plushenko with huge sums of money." or "Sasha is probably not as innocent as she always seemed"?

He likes TT like you and Plushyfan like PA.
I like PA? How did you get this idea? Obviously, engaging not in mud fights against someone is enough to be considered a friend of that person. This paints a very telling picture of the situation here. And to state it again very clearly: I am not a fan of Plushenko, but I do not judge him either, I am completely impartial and neutral towards him and I hope that with his vast experience, his ability and commitment he will give Sasha confidence and stability can give.

You're quip about them being morally superior is an inside joke that's not funny. No one on that team carries themselves as morally superior. Nor do any of the skaters.
Apparently you've never read the posts of the person you praised above, otherwise you'd know I'm not kidding. Edwin once described his #TeamTutberidzeForProgress as the moral institution in Russian figure skating. And unfortunately (!) this was by no means intended as an inside joke.
I also NEVER made fun of TT-Skaters, always only about the often insane posts from blinded team fans. Also, making fun is not the right expression, since the arrogance, duplicity and disparagement towards others gave little cause for joy.

And yes, the skaters would NEVER have called themselves a moral institution. Just as little as a certain former TT skater would have called herself the best and most beautiful skater in the world. Only completely deluded fans claim that. Some are so crazy that they claim a quad queen and figure skating revolutionary left her team because she couldn't stand to train next to such a super person. The world is full of fools.
