Evgenia Medvedeva

yep...I mean some of the things said were not even about the skating but just stuff he's made up....about her creating drama, pretending, all show, blah blah....I mean Jonathan even criticized her outfit...WTF??
Dave from TSL always had an agenda against Evgenia, however, since Brian told Doug off for constantly spilling insider information about Evgenia's training to Dave around 2018-19 and put a stop to it, he has gotten downright nasty. Best is to not watch them, I do not watch them and can therefore live in peace. In general the way they talk about women compared to men is especially concerning and says a lot to me about them as people and their world views.

It is really too bad that she hasn't had enough time to prepare properly with what happened with the travel restrictions and all. Both her SP and FS have a great chance of becoming the most interesting programs, especially when she gets into it, but the state of the elements really takes away from them. I love the music for both, and both have innovative choreography.

I too am really worried with her upcoming competitions, they're so close. At first I thought she was trying to rest her body in order to be better rested for next week, but then I realized that that's her actual form right now.

Maybe I'm too negative, but what bothers me the most when it comes to the rumours that she pinched a nerve or is otherwise hurt is that if it's really true, then I find it irresponsible to even participate at the test skates instead of healing the injury for the upcoming competitions.

I don't know what her plans are when it comes to going back to Canada, but surely it wouldn't be problem to withdraw at least from next weekend's competition and compete at another stage, it's not like all 12 spots at every competition are filled. What do you guys think about it?

I sincerely hope that RusFed will give her the option to participate at a later stage, and that they’re not forcing her hand.

As I recall, I think RusFed sent all of their skaters who train abroad to the first two stages, with the idea that they’d have a nice chunk of time to train abroad—Morozov/Tarasova came to mind. But obviously in Zhenya’s situation, given the Canadian border closure, it won’t really help 🙁

I’m kind of baffled by all of this though—

Both Brian and TAT had said that Zhenya was in really good shape earlier in the summer. TAT or Buyanova said she was doing multiple runthroughs a week. Brian said she was in an even better place than she was last year. Either he was being waaaay too optimistic (he has been over-optimistic sometimes in the past before), or this circumstance that is preventing Zhenya from being at top form happened recently?

I personally think it might be the latter, but I’m still kind of baffled.

I hope so too.

I don't know how people can watch tsl anymore, it's like 1% skating talk and 99% inside jokes and other

The thing that kind of stresses me out is that in interviews, she just acts like it's a given she's going to the Russian cup. I do hope she withdraws. Especially because she's doing back to back competitions- that's stressfull in normal conditions

I haven't read the past pages but oh dear, that was a rough weekend. All I can say is that her programs look highly promising and that I hope whatever's bothering her is nothing too serious. :ghug:

Yeah, Zhenya didn't look fit and she was so exhausted after the program, but I LOVE the choreography so much. Both her sp and lp have the potential to become masterpieces!!
I'm so proud of Zhenya for hanging in there. She's a true champion!!

It was reported earlier that she was suffering from a back injury, which prevented her from skating the short program cleanly. The camel spin in the short looked really awkward because of the back injury. The free program was much tougher if she was managing a back pain. But she pleaded with Russian interviewers to avoid talking about it, insisting that she was fine physically.

Test skates is past .. lest focus in the competition ahead .. I''m hopping that would be a good one for her

I read that except Ana, the rest are around 14 year old juniors, among them Zhenya would have to compete with Khromykh (also EG) and I think with quad. Also Frolova. So I don't expect anything from this stage. And the next stage will be even worse.

I don't want to be negative but the reality indicates that it will be difficult for her to classify for nationals.

How high would she need to place in order to qualify for nationals? I hear RusFed are using a point system like the GP series. Last year, 18 ladies qualified, so unless RusFed only want 6-8 ladies in the finals, I’m guessing a podium finish isn’t necessary in order to qualify?

My guess is top 4. And I love your new avatar.
