Honestly, I have no idea. I just thought the skaters and coaches might have a say in it. After all, Zhenya was able to withdraw, but then again, that might have been a different story.

I believe it is up to the team to decide which competition they will skate in..

Kromykh grown so much. She skates like a lady now. Impressive despite the jumps

Anna F. and Maia are all grown up.
And wow did Anna Sh. look consistent during warm-up. Not the slightest stumble despite the short off-season.

Yup I was expecting 80 and that is being generous already.

Score should be like around 78 only

I prefer the blue/purple dress she wore in the test skate FS. Less bling but looks really clean and sophisticated

I'm curious what GOE she received for the combo, let's wait for the protocols. Also it somehow feels like she's been skating the same program for three seasons now. She is a wonderful lyrical skater, but I wish they would give her something different so she can show her range.

It was really unnecessarily not to call Anna's UR combo. She still would have been first and miles away from everyone anyway. But its not her fault, she even seemed disappointed when she saw her own mistakes. I love the dress, I think that in real life it is not that dark and it probably looks even better.
On another note..can anyone name me another skaters beside TT that look soooo artistic in the slow-motion snapshots. Last season it was Alina and now Anna. Pure art!

I have to say, I was very impressed with Frolova! She looked very confident and her jumps were so solid. It also looked like she was really trying to get into the music and connect more. She should be ahead of Maiia, IMO.

I like Maiia and I love that we get to see her fun side with this program, but those jumps seem like such a struggle for her. They almost never look effortless and I never know if she's going to land them or not. Weird fluke step out on the 2A, but a nice job otherwise.

Shcherbakova was the class of the field, as expected. I assumed that this would be a very easy win for her and it looks like that'll be the case. I do think her score was too high, but do we expect anything less from Russian domestic scoring? It's a pity she struggled on the combo though, since she landed at least 4 beautiful ones in the warm-up. Just a fluke, I'm sure. But, a beautiful performance nonetheless!

Wait why was Shcherbakova got "B" on her 2 spins? Those spins were topnotch impressive and centered. Is the "B" a bonus or a deduction?

Is it just me or does Anna seem faster, like her skating skills are improved? I'm totally in agreement about her programs though. They are lovely, but they seem set on turning her into Medvedeva 2.0. She has huge range artistically, and that should be showcased!

45 TES after that ur lutz and that loop landing. This isn't even a competition at this point for Anna. They are just giving her points and it looked like she knew it too. Frolova should have been ahead of Maiia and some of the other girls really got lowballed in goe.

Overall happy for competitions to be back.

I've waited 5 long years for my tiny fairy being spoiled by judges, so everybody can suck it.
National champion deserves some favoring in first domestic tourney after half year pandemy break.

You could see in K&C she stays honest to herself anyway.
